The Rockets were also pretty close to beating GSW in game 7... At the end of the day one side was going to feel like the election was stolen and that was going to lead to something. In this case Jan 6. I seriously hope this upcoming election goes smoothly. Don't want excuses or whining from either side if they lose.
When 2/3 of the country feel the Jan 6TH attack was planned, that probably indicates its something people care about.
The problem was wasn't with the accuracy of the elections. The problem was with bad faith actors claiming the results weren't accurate.
Washington State has been doing mail in voting for years. Every single person said this was how the election would play out. Trump would start off with a lead and then it would shrink and he would either win or lose, but those bigger leads would disappear. Why? Because a lot of states made it to where in person, day of ballots had to be counted first. Had they allowed mail in ballots to be counted first and Biden had a big lead you wouldn't have had Democrats screaming. Why? Because anyone with half a brain knew this was how the counting worked. Trump said for months before the election the only way he could lose is fraud. His base listened to him. He is still screaming about fraud today when every person on his staff told him it is untrue. He also said the economy would tank under Biden. What he failed to mention is the economy would have tanked under him as well. I have not seen any Republican say how they would fix the economy. They just scream BIDEN!!!
Yeah, mail in voting has been around for a long time. It was for military and ill people that could not vote in person. It wasn't meant for millions of people to vote by mail. Its the most unsecure way to run an election, it leaves the door wide open for fraud. Yes, there was a strong Dem push for mail in voting. Despite Covid it was suspicious. Trump and co must have felt that if Dem's were going to try and steal an election this would be the way. There were strange anomalies with the way the votes were counted, perhaps there was absolutely no fraud but if some things don't add up at first its possibly because there has never been an election with these many mail in ballots. It took days for some states to turn in their counts. Conservatives did not want mail in voting, Dem's did... Conservatives were not going to trust mail in voting from the get go. They wont trust it tomorrow and they wont trust it in 2024. It does not matter anymore, its time to fix things so that people can finally move on with their lives. They have to make sure everyone is on board come 2024, they have to. This country has never been more divided, election integrity should be a top priority. Just because its conservatives who do not trust the system does not mean its not important. That's how its been regarded thou, "you don't trust it? tough luck there was no fraud period". Look, if you think that this country would be in the same shape with Trump as it is today with Biden that's fine. But Biden has been so awful that his own people are starting to turn on him. If Trump wins the next election and the economy recovers, republicans will say "see, Trump fixed it" and dems will say "Trump is just benefiting from what Biden left in place". I think we need to fix people's trust in the election first so that as a country we can move forward and recover.
Texas rejects hundreds of mail ballot applications under new voting limits It would seem as you stated mail in ballots were intended for people in military and those with disabilities. I would think there are paraplegics, Hispanic native Texas military veterans that lost limbs in war, who require the assistance of a family member in order to vote. This legislation disenfranchises the votes of the people who mail in ballot voting was originally intended for. How is that something that you can rationally defend?
Mail in voting is safe and secure. In CA, you have request it and have to be legally registered to receive it. Other states also have safeguards. In CA, you receive notification when it is picked up from the mail and when it has been counted. It is all traceable. The 2020 election may have been the most audited and recounted votes in our history. Trump knew that he lost. His team knew he lost. Yet, he kept touting what he knew was a lie. There is nothing wrong with mail in voting. It has been shown to be safe and secure.
Understand this. No one and I mean no one who worked for the Trump administration believed the claims of fraud were real. They knew all the claims were bs and were ordered by Trump to push the narrative regardless of validity of claims.
Who cares about Trump's administration? Maybe Trump himself does not believe it either... Its the people of this country that matter, its the people that will show up to vote in two years. At some point people in general wont care about Jan 6, they won't care about voter fraud claims... They will care about change, they will care about their economic state.
And responsible leaders wouldn't make false claims of election fraud to confuse its citizens to distrust our democracy and feel compelled to do action on their own.
Responsible leaders also don't lie to its citizens about the economy, Ukraine, gas prices, vaccines and approval ratings with the intent to mislead and cause greater division within the country.
