With pitchers as much as your arm matters . Your legs matter too.

Having a year off , verlanders body got some valuable rest .

his decline is velocity is not bothering me at this point . He is prolly still ramping himself up .

In the past he throws harder later in the game .

he is insanely competitive and will invent ways to be effective .

Don't pitchers typically get stronger 2nd year removed from TJ; ala ACL?

Their daughter is cute. Not a big surprise I guess.

Some people get blessed with good genetics, and some people have Kate Upton and Justin Verlander for parents

Buddy of mine from high school has a daughter who is apparently good friends with Kate and Justin’s daughter. My buddy’s wife just went walking around the zoo with Kate and the 2 daughters.. apparently Kate is pretty cool and normal, but also says things like “my husband works nights” as if she’s fooling anyone.. haha

Most of JV's starts are night games.

Verlander might be like Nolan Ryan and sneak up on Epic level Greatness at the tail end of his career. But he has to get to 300 wins. If he does, he likely will have had several 20 win seasons to close out. Add a ring. Think it's within reach if he wants it.

I saw him pitch here at Target Field in May and just miss out on a no hitter. I had seen him pitch here before as both a Stro and with the Tigers and I he looked more dominate that night than he did years ago.

considering he has only won 20 games twice in his career, I don't think he gets to 300. He wasn't amazing at the beginning of his career, he wasted too many years in Detroit, and he lost 2 years with Tommy John. That's probably around 7 or 8 wasted seasons from a career achievement standpoint. That being said, he will have 3-4 Cy Youngs before it's over which is pretty damn good.

Who are his competitors for the Cy THIS YEAR?
    McClanahan, Cease and Manoah?

My brother in law’s barber apparently cuts JVs hair too, I was shocked to learn JV pays $30 for his cut. Apparently a nice guy and good tipper though.

The comparison is Nolan Ryan, who had 253 wins at the end of his age 39 season. Verlander currently has 239 and will win a few more this season.

It doesn't seem likely but I'm not betting against him. 2 more really good seasons and he will be within striking distance, and he seems very serious about hanging on until he flat out can't go anymore. Somebody will absolutely give him a chance to chase if he's in the ballpark even if he isn't very good anymore.

If he has 1 one more year like this one, he'd be in a great spot. Randy Johnson had 230 wins after his age 39 season. Verlander is at 239 and counting. Without TJS, he'd probably be on the cusp of doing it next season, but maybe it also helps him extend his career having the 2 years off and a reconstructed elbow.

He would need 4 more seasons at an all-star level to make it. I guess if he plays until he's 45, then will probably make it.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I just don't think he makes it unless he does play until the wheels fall off.
