Meyers got dinged up last night, if it requires some time off this would be a perfect time to bring Leon up and see what happens.
I think Leon’s ceiling is high enough to justify waiting to start his clock until they are totally sure he is fully ready and there is a permanent spot for him to play full time. Especially since Siri and Brinson are sitting in AAA if needed for spot duty.
They're playing in Albuquerque. The elevation there is little higher than Denver and they don't use a humidor. It's a launching pad.
I was under the impression that once a minor leaguer spent more than 30 days on an MLB roster per season they accrued a year of service time, and that less than 30 days only counted as days.
I suspect this is how things will play out. I'd have Brown and Leon up as I'd, if in the FO, would want to know if they can help this year in the postseason. Even if Leon isn't a starter or 4th OF, I suspect his speed on bases could help in the postseason. If Leon can keep making contact once in majors, Leon and the Crawford Boxes will be a match made in Heaven.
Not sure where you got that from 172 days is considered a full season. Whether it's a day or 30, they all count towards that initial 172. If a player is only up for a little while teams can decide they "need more seasoning" to get them back under the projected 172 by keeping them in the minors a little while to start the next season. Although once a top prospect is up, they are usually up for good unless they legit struggle.
El Paso is pretty much just as bad. ABQ, El Paso, Reno and Las Vegas have the 4 best home offenses and 4 worst road offenses in the PCL
I’d rather bring up Leon and see if he can catch fire like Myers last year. Myers has disappointed in his return in my opinion. We know what we have in Siri so why not give Leon a shot now that his strikeouts are down. He won’t start his service time this year anyway, and, if not traded should be on the club next year unless he reverts to the SOs
as much as I like brown, and was incorrectly a fan of trading Tucker to get prime pitching a few years ago instead of Whitley. This time, trade the pitching prospect and keep the position player please. Would like to keep Leon and Diaz in anything not being Soto.
There have been all sorts of rules changes, some temporary and some not, since the COVID Panic. I think everybody that played in 2020 got credit for a full season, and perhaps even all minor leaguers got eligibility credit for the non season. It was hard to keep rumors and reality separate since than.
Freudis Nova is back and he homered in his first plate appearance of the year for the FCL Orange team.
I still have a glimmer of hope for him, although 40 man removal is usually a death knell. Still, outside of maybe Cristian Gonzalez, Nova still might be the highest ceiling SS prospect in the system.
Anybody know what is up with Colin Barber? He hasn't played since July 8, when he was removed mid-game. No trip to the IL, or official announcement from the organization. I assume it's an injury but we don't know what, and you'd think he'd be placed on the IL by now. Anybody now? I hope he isn't hurt, he missed much of last year with an injury and is having a good year.
I must have missed that. In that case it souds like he's fine. I saw a tweet from @AstrosFuture that said he hadn't played since the 8th, and I just remember seeing him out of the lineup most of the time.
