We get a little upset when TK gets overly excited about a fly ball that comes up short of the warning track...

Haha, is it really that bad a call. He got excited. The Mariners are in the midst of their own personal world series.

    Let them have some fun.

Thank God Yordan is back bc Tucker is mired in a huge slump. Starting to get concerned about Meyers as well.

At this moment, McCormick is the better hitting option at CF against both lefties and righties.

This is why I’ve been saying we gotta get another proven bat at the deadline. I’m 100% Tucker will turn it around especially in the postseason. However I’m not counting on Meyers and McCormick to do much at the plate.

World Series are so incredibly tough to win you gotta set yourself up as much as possible.

    Cruz -> Biggio -> Altuve

You kinda missed a 20 year gap there. Fairly significant part of that 50 year stretch you're referencing.

Off the bat it had a expected batting average of .770. It was sheer robbery.

I'm not getting the doom and dread for Tucker

    He's 5 for his last 33. That's simply a cold bat.

Plays like this are the invisible value guys like Pena create, most shortstops wouldn't even come close to this ball. Because they get to balls so well it doesn't even seem all that impressive when they make the plays.

Pena does need to clean up some of his errors(mostly lazy throwing errors), but he is really f**king good. It aggravates me when I see so many people complaining about what a huge defensive issue he is because of the errors and not realizing how many extra plays he makes. If he does get those errors under control he may be the best defensive player in baseball.

There's a significant presence of Astros Haters on 790. They seem to think we're interested in Football and Basketball OFF SEASON, particularly those out of market teams.

He's no Adam Everett in the field yet, but he's no Adam Everett at the plate either.

    2006 Adam Everett 4.1 dWAR; 0.1 oWAR; 3.5 WAR; 290 OBP; 352 SLG; 64 OPS+
    2022 Jeremy Pena (162proj) 2.9 dWAR; 5.1 oWAR; 6.9 WAR; 307 OBP; 449 SLG; 113 OPS+
    2021 Carlos Correa 2.9 dWAR; 5.2 oWAR; 7.2 WAR; 366 OBP; 485 SLG; 131 OPS+

At the time, it was hard to convince anyone there was more to baseball than BA and HRs, much less metrics.

Ozzie Smith only had 1 season [dWAR](1989) better than Adam in 2006. And he (AE) was being raked over the coals for his hitting that season.

The Adam Everett effect. Making the uncommon play routinely and making the impossible play seem possible.

Perusing AE's fangraphs page, he was the single most valuable defender in baseball in 2006 by Defensive Rating. The difference in rating between him and second place is roughly the difference between second and 8th place.

Dude had a 62 wRC+ that year and was still worth 2.2 fWAR on the basis of his glove.

And he has a history of slumps. He's not Yordan where he's going to hit for average game in and game out.

That is why his WAR and fielding numbers are high despite the errors. That being said, his arm makes me miss Correa. We go from the best arm in baseball to one that is probably slightly below average

I see it’s Logan pitching vs. the Astros. Got very good numbers. He’s due for a bad start.

Both Ozzie and Adam finished with a career average 2.9 dWAR/season. Ozzie is widely considered the best defensive shortstop in history. Adam has been widely forgotten.

It's actually above average. But the difference between above average and elite is noticeable.

It's crazy how influential offensive numbers were in gold glove awards back in the day. Jeter has 5 gold gloves, including 2006 when he had a negative defensive rating (-1.2) to Everett's 31.7. Even Jeter's peak defensive year (2009) he maxed out at 12.2.

Adam Everett played in the wrong era.
