They didn't even bother with a legal defense but attempted to make it a political event. Guess he's betting on appealing to a MAGA court.

 

Yes. The funny thing is that he made all of these promises about how he was going to lay out all of this damning stuff when he had his turn in court, then he said nothing and presented no defense at all.

They weren't yet rioters. They would be shortly. They had already made the plans to riot and scouted out locations to breach the capitol.

That is another new fact we learned from the hearings that was unknown on the day.

But to me, it seems like the point is non-existent.

I don't think the committee was trying to show that Hawley knew the people were going to storm the building. If so, they wouldn't have shown him running from them. It seems like they were showing these were the people being supported by Trump and many GOP congressmen and this is what happened when push came to shove.

It is funny to see him supporting them and then a short time later running in fear for his safety from the same group.

that is the point

 

They were rioters. They just hadn't rioted, yet. Hawley did give his support and he did run away. That was a tweet highlighting things and not the sum of their coverage.

That being said, I have no doubt MSNBC slants their coverage.

 

It was bad timing and poor judgement from him at the time. But then he voted against certifying the election result after the attack on the capital.

 

It would be unprecedented for a Republican to be acquitted by a DC jury. He'll get the maximum punishment of course, that's how they operate in DC.

This will be the first and last time anyone held in contempt of Congress will be prosecuted (Republicans excluded of course).
