    Generally speaking, I would suspect that former trump supporters who have seen the light are less likely to speak up. First, they would need to admit they were trump supporters. Then they would need to admit they were wrong, duped, or whatever. I don’t think most people want to do that.

    Current trump supporters, excusers, minimizers or just general republicans party loyalists … they are much more likely to be vocal. I mean you got Os posting articles like his life depends on it and saying J6 committee is all a waste of time bc trump is “gone”. And of course the typical mojo and commodore nonsense.

    Anyone have the video of whatever statement the White House actually released on Jan 7? I can't find it now with all the outtakes taking over the internet.

    True Confessions: Liz Cheney Said Trump Family and Aides Have Now Publicly “Confessed”
    https://jonathanturley.org/2022/07/...family-and-aides-have-now-publicly-confessed/

    excerpt:

    As with past hearings, the summation included a direct call by Cheney for voters to oppose Donald Trump in the coming election: “Can a President who is willing to make the choices Donald Trump made during the violence of January 6 ever be trusted with any position of authority in our great nation again?” It is the type of pitch that is as unnecessary as it is counterproductive. Many voters tuned out the hearings weeks ago due to the absence of any balance in the presentation of evidence. To add direct political pitches only reduces the audience further. The result is that it is left telling largely Democratically aligned voters not to vote for Trump.

    The alternative was to secure a larger audience by allowing more balance. It would not have altered the power of these accounts. It would have simply added greater credibility to the proceedings. It could have changed minds rather than just reaffirm preexisting views. Instead, once again, the Committee simply edited out conflicting evidence. For example, the Committee again edited out the line of Trump where he said “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

    That line does not exonerate the former president. However, it is illustrative of the Committee’s refusal to hold these hearings for investigative rather than persuasive purposes.

    ***
    I seriously doubt that figures like former Attorney General Bill Barr or other Trump officials believed that they were coming forward with public confessions. They spoke about courageous and principled positions that put them at odds with the former president.

    What was so striking about the Cheney’s characterization of such testimony as “confessions” is that it seemed to address a glaring disconnect for many Democratic critics. The hearing has shown that virtually all of the Trump officials in the White House took the same position against the effort to reject the certification of the election and called for immediate responses to the riot. Many of these figures, like Barr, had been unfairly attacked for years as Trump stooges or enemies of democracy.

    The fact is that our system worked. The courts (including Trump appointed judges) rejected these challenges. Executive officials held firm in refusing to allow the Justice Department or other agencies from being used to further attacks on the election without evidence of widespread voting fraud. There was no flinching or hesitation for figures like Barr or Vice President Michael Pence and they have always been public about their positions. There were no confessions in these hearing beyond a couple witnesses like the members of the extremist groups. {emph added}

    The fact is that there was little new offered in the last two hearings. There continued to be a conspicuous absence of the long promised new evidence of criminal conduct by Trump. The two witnesses yesterday were important new voices who offered authentic and heartfelt accounts of their decisions to resign on January 6th.

    The biggest news was the announcement of additional hearings. While the Democrats brought in a former ABC producer to frame the hearings, it could well have been George Lucas behind the camera. Whenever a hearing end with what sounds like a summation, the chair comes forward with a sequel line that “there is another.

    I wish. I also wish some posters here had an ounce of the smarts Turley has. Oh well. Can't have everything.

    You describe yourself. All you are in this forum is a troll busy amusing himself. It is sad to see. You could influence others here to the danger our country is in, but you have no interest in doing so. You would rather spend your time having your bizarre version of “fun.” What a waste.

    Trump, Article II, and January 6, 2021
    He failed to fulfill his oath.

    https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/trump-article-ii-and-january-6-2021/

    excerpt:

    I do not have time for a lengthy run-down of last night’s hearings.*. But I will say that it underscored the remarkable fact that the President of the United States sat and watched, live on TV, an attack on the US Capitol by people who were his supporters and he did absolutely nothing to try and stop it for almost three hours. Moreover, he concluded the day by sending them a video message that he understood them, that they were “special” and that he “loved” them.

    We did not need the hearings to know this, indeed, anyone paying attention that day saw it in real time. {emph added}

    The system did not work.

    Had the system worked the sitting President would not have headed the attempt to insert counterfeit electors in an effort to overturn a legitimate election.

    Had the system worked, there wouldn't have been the leader of nation saying that VP Pence deserved to be hung.

    The Pentagon called during the insurrection to try and help, and the President refused to take the call.

    That was something that wasn't known that day. That was something new that came out in the hearings.

    What Partisan Turley said was wrong again. There was new evidence that came to light. The system did not work.

    The best that could be said is that system didn't fail as badly as it could. But now we know how close it was to total failure. There were many people willing to work and plan to make it a complete failure.

    There were some people who made prevented it from total failure.

    A leading candidate from the GOP will make sure only the people who are willing to make it fail will be in place.

    The best we can accurately say about the system is that it wasn't a total failure.

    But the system broke under Trump and it absolutely didn't work.

    I was right. That psycho went on a rant today on his Truth Social website. Just the name of his website is a joke. Nothing coming out of that psycho's mouth is truth.

    Just a couple of his rants about last night's airing about the insurrection ...

    “Will there be any mention or study by the Unselects of how the Election was Rigged and Stolen? There is sooo much evidence, but the Unselects don’t want it seen in any way, shape, or form – and for good reason – it would ruin their latest Scam!”

    “I had an election Rigged and Stolen from me, and our Country. The USA is going to Hell. Am I supposed to be happy?”

    LMAO. He never stops!!!

    And guess what? He's currently plotting to blow up the system if he wins in 2024 all in service to himself.
