UCLA isn't leaving California. It's leaving the PAC-12. The campus will still bein Westwood. Also the homeless and poverty problem is much worse around USC.

As an alumni of a PAC-12 school I'm mad also UCLA and USC are leaving the PAC-12 to go to a ridiculously bloated BIG Ten. Those two schools along with CAL, Stanford, the Oregon and Washington State schools were founders of the original Pacific Coast Conference in 1915. A big part of College Football is about historic rivalries. Regional conferencese matter as you could have players who were from the same high school playing on the rival teams and fans from the same region. Instead now you're going to have UCLA and USC playing the same conference as Rutgers and Maryland.

As someone who lives in a traditional Big Ten state adding those schools and adding UCLA and USC will do nothing to enhance the historic nature of the the rivalries just dilute the importance of things like the Little Brown Jug or Floyd of Rosedale.

Only one thing matters in college athletics. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and Big Ten have much more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

    'On 2 July 2022,
joining the big 10 will increase UCLA Athletic Department's revenue stream, to the tune of over $100 M annually, a much needed revenue source to help chip away the cumulative budget deficit of ~~~a billion $.
only men's football and basketball programs are profitable, but not enough to support all the non-revenue-producing programs, which include all the women sports programs

Gavin Newsom can be upset, but the reality is that moving to the Big Ten will bring a lot of revenue in for both schools and that is the driving factor.

California is a desirable place to live, but they have some issues they need to work on and what UCLA does or doesn't do isn't one of those issues.

ur too stupid to understand that UCLA will be joining another athletic conference, just like Texas leaving for the SEC.

UCLA remains is a part of the best public academic system in the world, producing ~ 400 nobel prize winners. UC Berkeley has produced 110 such winners, 25 for UCLA

how many such winners has the UT system produced? less than ~40. the best one, UT Austin, has produced ~~ 6 or 7

Troll ass thread. UCLA and USC will be getting a lot of recruits now that they’re in a big conference. No more top Cali recruits leaving the state in order to face better competition. More people from all over the US not afraid to move to Cali and jeopardize level of competition.

it’s the exact same reason UT and OU joined the SEC

Yes it is all about money same with UT leaving the Big 12.

Rivalries and tradition is a big part of college football and these teams leaving their traditional Conferences are just forgetting that.

Then again I miss the days of the Southwest Conference.

Also UCLA And USC should see how Nebraska is doing since they joined the Big Ten they’ve been near the bottom of the conference. A once powerhouse school has been reduced to an also ran behind Minnesota.

Two of the LA teams are leaving the Pac 12
And I’m guessing Newsom is mad cause there’s some money not going to flow through California the state

So I’m sure if usc and ucla are not playing their other California schools that’s less tax money from games and television going to the state of California

The UC campuses are second to Ivys in terms of world class college systems.

It's not private, and if you reside in-state, you get a ridiculously cheap degree on the resume for what you pay.

Meanwhile in red state public universities...LETTTTSSSS GIT RUDY 4 SUM FOOOOOTBAALLLLLL!!!
