that is a valid point and probably the most sensible way to think about it. Still, somehow, it’s an abomination!
And he still shouldn't have rested him against the Yankees since he played him the next day. Since he was hurt Dusty shouldn't have used him as a pinch hitter or the next day
By that logic, any player who gets a seemingly nagging injury should never be rested for just one game?
I never have cared much one way or the other about all star games But I will say it’s cool that a Dodger got the loss in the game in LA
Apparently that 1 game just had to be against the Yankees. So he was to hurt to DH 4-5 at bats, but he was well enough to pinch hit, 1 at bat. This logic makes no sense to me.
It's not logical. It was hopeful. Maybe he doesn't do more damage with 1 PH appearance. It was a HUGE risk.
And that was an unfortunate scheduling coincidence. 4 at bats would have quadrupled the odds something could have happened. Don't you think they really, really wanted him to get multiple at bats against the Yankees?
Just thinking about who starts vs the Stinkys. Odorizzi and possibly Valdez would be considered out because they do not have 4 full days rest. Do you focus on the Stinkys or the Mariners? Verlander and Garcia would be up if they do not adjust the rotation. But as much as I love beating the Stinkys, the Mariners are the Division Rivals. Do you think they adjust to pitch JV and FV against the Mariners?
They all count the same as far as wins and losses. Have confidence and stick to your rotation. We are in no serious trouble of losing this division.
What is so complex about this? His hand was hurting and they wanted to try to give him a day off to rest it, but he was available in an emergency if they needed him. Turned out they did need him so they used him. If the circumstances didn't need him, then he'd have gotten a full day of rest. This happens all the time in MLB. You thought the injury was fake. It wasn't. Just admit you were wrong instead of digging yourself into a dumber and dumber hole.
Ok so I have no idea how everything is done now, and what they are proposing so take this all with a grain of salt.. but the mlbpa seemed to make it about being fair, and offering education and guaranteed money.. but: 1. Why can’t we just put all qualified players in the same draft? And 2. If that is what they were trying to do, I bet there is a part of the mlbpa that are worried white boys won’t get picked in the first round anymore lol.. again, I have no idea on anything of this or even what rule 5 is.. someone help haha
The international draft would have been a separate draft completely, basically replacing the international free agent process. It wouldn't have had any effect on the regular US draft (the rule 4 draft), and and nobody was ever proposing they be combined. Plenty of hispanics and black dudes get drafted in the US draft, not sure what that has to do with anything. Adva As usual all of the bluster about education and fairness is just PR speak and it was all about money. The two side couldn't agree on how large the draft bonus payouts would be, and they never really came close. It's not an important issue facing current MLB players, so everybody is more than happy to posture strongly on it. The Rule 5 draft is a professional draft for minor leaguers who have been with an organization too long without being added to the MLB roster. You add them to the 40 man, or another team can draft them away from you. The catch is that the player has to stay on the MLB roster all year after they are drafted or they are given back.
