Stranger Things pulled no punches with its emotional moments in Season 4. Today, in an interview with Variety, Noah Schnapp confirmed something that fans have long speculated: Will is gay. “It was hinted at in Season 1. It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear he is gay and does love Mike,” Schnapp said. not sure why people were trying to act like it wasn’t the case…it was too obvious
I'm confused by that statement from Schnapp. Is he saying that Will loves Mike...as in brotherly love...or is he saying that Will is in love with Mike and that has caused a number of the issues (between he and Mike...and mentally)?
Not that the fact he’s gay is an issue, it’s the telegraphed insert plot line check box that Netflix feels it has to do constantly. The second will made the stupid face and his actor unleashed the bad acting i knew that’s what flix was going for https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/stranger-things-noah-schnapp-will-byers-gay-161649667.html
Will that be the first triangle of that type on screen? It's weird because Mike isn't gay. Or they'll have to make Mike bisexual or something. It won't have any importance if it's just Will barking up the wrong tree.
Finally finished this last night(2 hours and 20 min for the last episode!) Thoughts: Spoiler: Thoughts It never really feels like any of the characters are in real danger; you got Steve/Nancy/Robin(who I despise as a character and an actress being choked to death and same with Eleven and she can all of a sudden get out of it and hurt Vecna(power of love?). I didn't care too much about the Russian plot line at all; congrats to Harbour losing 80 pounds for the role but I am so turned off by his fake death from Season 4. By the way, this is what the 4th or 5th time they have shown a character "dying" or faking the audience out into thinking they died and they are fine in the next season? Them attacking Venca with that damn overplayed Running Up That Hill song got my eyes rolling so hard, all of a sudden the tides turned and Lucas was attacking the jock, the sister could get away from that other basketball jock, Eleven attacking Vecna, just too much for me. Max also getting a reverse Uno card and coming back to life(albeit crippled and brain dead) was super eye rolling too; it would have been perfect for her to go after giving everyone she cared for and loved all the letters when she thought she was dead. Eddie was for sure going to die because the formula has been "lets introduce a new character, build him up a bit, kill him off". Also it bothered me that no one but Dustin was upset by him dying; it felt very Black Widow from End Game to me I agree with everyone here; some of the acting is bad; Finn has really regressed, Eleven and Will don't do a whole lot except for whine and cry(although I really felt bad for Will; you got Mike declaring his love for Eleven while she's on the freezer and all I think about how all this is putting a dagger in Will's heart) The Steve/Nancy will he, won't he is so overplayed; just get rid of that. Wasn't a big fan of the Eleven torture p*rn when she was trying to get her powers back and not a big fan of the suddenly important sassy black sister.Argyle is beyond annoying; no point for him other than comic relief and he's not funny at all. The basketball game at the beginning of the season was unintentionally funny; it was all so ridiculous and predictable. Jason was alright; he had very church pastor vibes to him. Predictions for S5(which comes out in 2024!)They defeat Venca and Max is "alive" but not functional because Venca has her soul or something and Max returns fully functioning after they kill Venca. All the souls get released(Barb, Billy, etc.) as sort of a final goodbye to the characters. I bet they focus way more on Will this season with him being connected to the Upside Down. I am kind of waiting for a significant death to happen but I can't count of the Duffer bros for that to happen
Why are you still watching the show? You truly seem abhorred by it. If it is really that bad, stop watching.
Me? If you are indeed talking to me, there are some positive things there. I happen to think Natalie Dyer is hot, I like the 80's elements, the solo with Eddie is cool and his character himself was great. Just thought if I wrote both my positive and negative thoughts in one post, no one is going to read all of that. I also happen to think a lot of my concerns are shared by the board here. As far as not watching it, I don't have to worry about that aspect for another 2 years lol.
lol...yup...two years...all of those kids will be married and have their own kids. Never mind Steve is already like 30. I just assumed you didn't like the show because of the negative list you had going. And I do agree with a fair number of your points...I just really like the fun nature of the show and tend to overlook all of the things that are wrong or bad about it. Sorry about the post...didn't mean to make it sound like I was attacking. And contrary to what a lot have said about skin-n-bones Dyer, she is a cutie.
It sounds to me like you're expecting stuff that Stranger Things isn't meant to be. Overall, it's a fairly family-friendly good vs evil story with lots of 80s fan service. The writing and plot isn't gonna win any awards.
As for writing quality, expectations were pretty low for the 80s man. Remember Macguyver or A Team? I do, but all the cheesy episodes blurred into one.
Pretty much this. I feel like it's fine to be gay, but it's something Netflix feels the need to do all the time.
As for season 4, I thought it was great. Wife got me into Stranger Things after saying I'd never watch it for a while. She was caught up when I started watching it a week ago, and we finished S1-4 in a week lol.
Has it been said yet in this thread the antagonist in the clinic setting is a pretty damn good actor?
I mentioned earlier but bears repeating. Jamie Campbell Bower is fantastic. His acting as a human might be the best in the series so far.
