His interview makes me like him even more. I hope we get a College LHP (Whisenhunt) and College middle infielder (Schobel) with our two second rounders. Then if we have the $$$, a HS guy who dropped in the third.
Really like the pick, we need a vocal leader in this next window of players and he can stay in CF. Hardnosed guy, should be pretty quick mover in the minors, maybe not a whole lot of upside but solid tools across the board. Hoping with our next picks we don't waste them on a Grae Kessinger/Nolan Fontana type guy
As much as I loved Luhnow, and as good as he was in nearly every aspect of being a GM, second round picks were the one weakness. Hard to complain when he was so good otherwise and we continue to reap the benefits of his success, but he had a horrible track record with second round picks. I'm rooting for Kessinger to somehow turn things around and at least play into a utility role but I was never too excited about that pick when we made it, and felt like he was more of a 5th round talent.
Can't say I am not disappointed about passing on Connor Prielipp. But I like Drew Gilbert and if he is all his coach claimed he should be great.
