I agree with that for sure. One thing I will say is that we do have guys who could all develop into starters. KPJ & Jalen could be our scorers and playmakers. Tari and Jabari can anchor our D, and Sengun can be that playmaker and guard bigger bodies.

Most certainly this and the BKN picks conspire to be the biggest "threat" to this group. We have ammo and capspace.

If you think it was Wall’s idea to sit out a year of his prime, I have some beachfront property to sell you in Nebraska.

They did sit wall to develop KPJ, wym? They’re invested in KPJ man. Extending him doesn’t make sense right now. If he continues to develop, he’ll get way more next season than he would if he signed now. Notice how he was sitting next to Rafael during SL, or what about when he went to a UFC event with Tillman and Tate? They obviously love the guy. You’re gonna be dead wrong on this

I think it was mutual and for the development of the team. Wall wasn't complaining about getting 40 million to sit in the bench (when he even did tgat). Wall is in his prime lol? You have to be kidding

I think you are just assuming that because it helps your bias against KPJ. I guarantee Wall did want to sit out a year of playing basketball at only 30.

No, they sat Wall because they wanted the team to develop and see what they had. They're not invested in KPJ. Cleveland gave him to us for free. He's a lottery ticket. They haven't offered him a contract plain and simple. Of course it makes sense not to pay him. His track record speaks for itself. So he sat next to his gm and went to a UFC event indicates they love him? Nah. If I'm wrong I will own it but when I'm right we'll see I'd it's the other way around

I don't want KPJ on our team but it has nothing to do with how I feel about the Wall situation. If he wasn't cool with it he could have created a situation. He didn't. Waited for his buyout. I think your bias for KPJ is clouding your judgment

So how come every report that came out said that’s why they sat wall? Wall playing would’ve help our young guys, but it would’ve taken the ball out of KPJ hands. If they didn’t love him, he wouldn’t gotten cut or traded after the Denver game. Why would they go through that with him if they weren’t invested? Why would they prioritize running the offense through him and not Jalen all time, who was their number 2 overall pick? Your hate clouds your judgement man. I’m telling you, you’re dead wrong

    @Plowman
    I would say high probability

    Starters
    KPjr (Scoot)
    Green (Thrilla)
*Jabari (6'10 or 6'11" but I like him at SF)
*Tari (6'8" but I like his defense vs PF's)
    Sengun

    Small Ball (playoff run) roster
    KPjr
    Green
I look for the Rockets to draft SF next year or free agent SF
    Jabari
    Tari

    -----------------------------
Lacking one more missing link like: Cam Whitmore, Dillion Mitchell,
Ausar Thompson, Amen Thompson, Anthony Black

*Neither Jabari nor Tari are much on being facilitators at the moment.

I’d say extremely low odds, but for all the good reasons. High pick in the next draft, tons of cap space, Net’s picks (either drafting through them or packaging in a trade for a superstar/missing piece), future looks as bright as ever.

Don’t catch feelings on this starting lineup. Way too early

I don't think Wall playing would have helped anything but the tank. If Wall played, it would have been the Wall show every game which would have hindered the development of our players more than Wood already did.

There's no question that the Rockets prioritized the development of KPJ and Green over playing Wall, and to Wall's credit, he stayed gone and just collected his paychecks. He knows he has the second worst contract in sports only slightly behind Westbrook, it wouldn't have benefitted him in any way to throw a tantrum since he was completely untradeable.

When it comes to running the offense, it wasn't prioritizing KPJ over Green, it was that Green simply isn't a PG or even a combo guard yet. He might be one day, but trying to have him run the offense would have been setting him up to look REALLY bad. Instead, they put that on KPJ and over the season I think it helped both of them develop properly. Eventually they figured it out and they both looked amazing towards the end of the season and can go into next season with the chemistry between the two already figured out. The Rockets would have pissed that all away if they had chosen to play Wall.

Jalen is not a pg and he was 19 years old. He's not going to lead a team at that point which is why it took a while for him to adjust. We'll agree to disagree on KPJ as nobody is changing the others mind. We'll see

Yes, I would say, worst case scenario is they improve our depth.

Best case scenario is a player drafted becomes an upgrade from what we have.

I'm pretty excited to see the lineup that was mentioned by the OP.
But despite that, I don't think it's a championship lineup just yet and wouldn't be surprised if players get traded out in the long term.

In fact, the only player I would say is untradable at this point is Jabari Smith.
Green is close, but I'll feel more certain after seeing his development this season.

Two or three years is a long time and these guys have literally proven nothing. The Rockets can’t even win Summer League games.

Short of injuries, Green and Smith will be starters. Both are very easily projectable. Smith is already a very good defender who can shoot from the elbow and outside. Green really looked good down the stretch.

Tari Eason has looked really good as well in the summer but isn’t terrible efficient and there is a chance he will become a super 6th man type player. He will be around a long time regardless as he can defend, get steals and rebound.

Sengun is also going to be a really good NBA player but it’s possible he is best suited off the bench as well.

We don’t know who Kevin Porter is going to assault next or what dumpster on fire behind a strip club he will be chilling at so who knows what happens with him.

Only the 1 and 4 are for certain locked in. Plus I don’t think this group of guys knows how to win and their best two players are 19 and 20 years old. So there will likely be another high lottery pick next year and that person will be projected as a starter or we deal the pick for a player that starts.

I would say Tari is at best 50-50. He has to improve his shooting to avoid being a bigger and younger Jae'Sean Tate.

SL showed signs of it but against nba players is a different animal. Teams will have more consistency on defensive rotations to take away as many open looks...

I think KPJ is more likely to earn an extension than not but it depends on the money involved...

Well said. I don't understand the KPJ people on here. I wouldn't trust him to clean our house let alone give the guy a significant contract. Thankfully, our front office doesn't consist of Bobby and the other other Rockets twitter people who look like someone I'd hand a dollar to if I saw them in person
