We are in another COVID wave. I'm absolutely sure I was part of it. The good news though is that it sounds like that those who have been vaccinated and boosted it's generally mild. Fauci's job is to contain disease. It shouldn't be surprising to anyone that he is still recommending measures to contain a disease. Those have to be weighed against the economy and how likely people are to follow them but that really isn't Fauci's job.
Why is that 'lol? If you read the article they are recommending (it specifically says not mandating) masks in indoor gatherings. They discuss the rapid spread of the new variants. Recommend folks get boosted if not already done so. Whatever is wrong with the article (hint: read it)
It's because people seem to think diseases are like set events with a start and end date, and also because taking any form of risk mitigation is seen as a cultural statement or shibboleth.
TMC brought back their covid dashboard due to the current wave. https://www.tmc.edu/coronavirus-updates/tmc-covid-19-patient-summary/ Hospitalization isn't too bad yet (about 1/3 previous peaks) but waste water virus particle count is the highest is has ever been.
Yeah I suspect we'll have ebbs and flows as time goes on, especially because unlike other diseases we're monitoring waste water for it. That's not to say we need lockdowns or ever return to March/April 2020...but to avoid doing that we need to monitor it for public health reasons.
Looking forward to the 'universal' covid vaccine under trial. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/ar...-to-test-universal-covid-19-vaccine-candidate
Anyone seen any data on the asymptomatic frequency with the new variants? I have not. Part of me guesses that as the new variants have greater viral loads that it would be harder to be walking around with an asymptomatic case. Seems like people would at least have sniffles or some crap like that.
Getting covid is also bad for myocarditis. Also from Dr. Marks Dr. Marks: Well, let's start with the easiest one. The incidence of myocarditis with COVID infection is several fold higher than with vaccination with the mRNA vaccines, even the second dose of the mRNA vaccines, which is where the risk of myocarditis is highest. So getting COVID-19 is a bad thing to do for myocarditis. So good to be vaccinated to help prevent that. https://www.ama-assn.org/delivering...se-boosters-and-vaccine-update-peter-marks-md
Its as if...guidance changes based on science? For someone who doesnt like religious dogma, you really seem ideologically blind. Oh sorry did I bully you again by pointing out youre a moron? Are you gonna cry now?
How are we still talking about Myocarditis? It's been well established that the incidence of Myocarditis in unvaccinated people with COVID is much much higher than in vaccinated people. PLUS, myocarditis from COVID is Viral Myocarditis which is a more severe version of myocarditis than the one from the vaccine. https://www.pharmacytimes.com/view/...er-for-unvaccinated-patients-who-get-covid-19 https://www.beckershospitalreview.c...id-19-than-vaccination-large-study-finds.html https://theconversation.com/myocard...ger-risk-to-the-heart-than-vaccination-174580 https://epicresearch.org/articles/m...o-get-covid-19-than-covid-vaccinated-patients https://www.chop.edu/news/health-tip/myocarditis-and-covid-19-get-facts
Thanks for doing the research. I had heart pains from the initial covid infection. Did give a fair amount of anxiety, so I can imagine folks who did get myocarditis from vaccines to freak the **** out. I'd got the mrna jab and I don't remember if myocarditis ever healed or whether it was always there from the first infection. Don't feel it anymore since whenever the hell we all got locked down. Anyways, I guess this debate is being framed as vax "chickens" vs vax "sheep". I can see the distrust with lockdowns, but vaccines is particularly odd. Like a big brain form of gambling.
So... getting a monkey pox vaccine if you are susceptible to getting it makes you a pathetic sheep? What a stupid comment.
Monkey pox cases are climbing rapidly, especially some are at a higher risk than others. LGBTQ community is particularly hit hard right now. Number of confirmed cases in the US: 5/18/22 - first case 6/3/22 - 21 cases 6/18/22 - 113 cases 7/1/22 - 460 cases 7/15/22 - 1814 cases Vaccine demand is already exceeding supply. The US government ordered 7m vaccines and has only received 370k so far. So if someone is in the high risk group, they should definitely think about getting the vaccine. The earlier we can get people vaccinated, the more the spread can be slowed down.
