Elon is a lot richer than Trump, and has an incomparably better entrepreneurial track record. Trump sounds jealous and unhinged.

A Republican candidate hasn’t “easily” won a presidential election since 1988 and DeSantis won’t be the first to do so, even against a fossilized Biden. He’s a culture warrior and that will limit his appeal with independents and energize liberals. DeSantis didn’t even “easily” win his one statewide race. He barely beat his 2018 opponent and it was a guy who was under federal investigation and also banging meth-addicted male escorts across the state.

Where did the DeSantis hype come from?

This is a terrible example. DeSantis went into the 2018 election facing Trump headwinds. Gillum was sober and did a good job (ie: opposite of Biden) of presenting a reasonable case for governor. I voted for Gillum. Its probably the only vote I've ever casted that I had serious regret. I was bamboozled by the anti-Trump narrative. It further cemented my belief that the Democrats are absolutely no different than the Republican. The will put any fraud on the ticket to win. They give zero ***** about the platforms they preach on. I respect Bidens presidency but I fully believe putting Biden on the ticket was a complete clown move by the Democrats. Same with Hillary. Just as I also think putting Trump on the Republican ticket was a complete clown move by the Republicans.

What many fail to understand is DeSantis is appealing to the moderate voter. He did a fairly good job during Covid and bet against shut downs in favor of keeping jobs open. By the end of the pandemic, the Florida Covid numbers were relatively on par with national averages. Florida is booming. People like the guy.

It's a question if he would even beat Kamala...

Yeah, I think his culture warrior stuff will sink him unless he goes against Biden. If the DNC isn't running Biden I think Desantis would have a lot of issues, especially if they are running a Fetterman or Newsome kind of candidate. The Anti-LGBT stuff will not be popular and we also have to remember that if Desantis is the nominee that Trump has been moved out of the way and I doubt Trump will go down quietly.

Trump will hold on to his base as much as he can and will try to take down as much of the GOP as he can, including Desantis. This is the biggest wildcard in the 2024 election, it's Trump. The GOP has to find a way for him to quietly go away...good luck with that.

It’s not a “bad example.” It’s the only example. Because it’s his only statewide election and the question is about “easily” winning a presidential election. In 2018, when they had the historical out-of-power party midterm momentum, Democrats screwed themselves with a polarizing, scandal-plagued candidate (the same way Republicans likely have in 2022 in Pennsylvania and Georgia). Gwen Graham would’ve been a better general election candidate and she just needed to be .5 better. DeSantis won by less than the five previous Republican candidates for governor. I don’t care about anyone’s personal feelings about DeSantis, I’m just looking at the data. Nothing tells me he’s on his way to a presidential landslide or even a victory like Obama’s in 2012. I doubt he beats Crist by more than a percentage point or two in 2022.

“People like the guy.” DeSantis isn’t well known among the general public. He’s Fox News famous and it isn’t because of his “kitchen table” economic agenda. It’s his culture war on vaccines, gay/trans people, racial history in textbooks , whatever... It’s clearly a play for the Trump voter, but it’s not going to lead to any “easy” win over a Democrat, even ancient Joe Biden. You have to appeal broadly to numerous groups of people for that to happen and he will not do that being far to the right on any of those issues. He’s not a “moderate.” Also, good luck winning any national election easily after the Supreme Court decision on abortion. They can Weekend-at-Bernie’s Joe Biden with a veto pen saying he’s the only thing standing in the way of a nationwide abortion ban and he’ll at least get 48% in all the states that matter. 2024 will be a close election. I don’t know who will win, but thinking that DeSantis will “easily beat Biden” is as ignorant and arrogant as Joe Rogan saying Trump will “eat Biden alive” in 2020. It’s low-info voter talk, treating elections like boxing matches.

He really is a sensitive B.

It's comical that Major could get you to feel some kind of way.

    Truth hurts.

Imagine the GOP thinking Hunter's tapes of ****ing hookers and doing drugs could actually make him look bad.

Hunter is cool as **** and if you replaced Joe with him the Dems would win the presidency again by a landslide.

You're living in the past. By your logic, Obama would have never won.

DeSantis has talked very little about a presidential bid but yet he is the most talked about candidate behind Trump. No, he is not on the lips of every American, but he is one of the most well known governors in the country.

Quite frankly, its way too early to talk about a 2024 bid, much less deciding if it will be a close race. What I can tell you is the economic outlook over the next 18 months is very poor and economics trumps any social agenda Democrats will try to roll out with. The abortion topic will be yesterdays news with most of the discussion being talked about extremist states both on the left and right.

Ill be sure to bookmark this thread for your 'percentage point or two' prediction. Ill give it a 4 or 5 point spread. This is not my overall personal feelings. The straight ticket democrat voters in my circles have a stronger distaste for Rick Scott than they do for DeSantis.

I don't deny it's in the poll, I just find it hard to believe that come November 2024 that it would actually happen
