I had heard that theory tossed around after the draft. I thought it was illogical and unlikely, but now I'm kind of wondering if it holds some weight. I haven't seen anything that proves him to be a low IQ anything.
The only potentially questionable part of his IQ was displayed in the first summer league game, where he was trigger happy on 3s and went 2-9, and 6-17 overall. However, he has since corrected this, going 1-3 and 2-3 from 3s in his next two games. He's also only taken 10 and 16 shots since then, converting at FG 50% and FG 56%. He's definitely shown much more restraint shooting the ball than say... Josh Christopher, and I wouldn't say JC is low IQ, just very trigger happy and trying too hard.
Seems a bit like cherry picking, considering there were many other players left as well. How do we even know Charlotte entertained Tari at all? It'd be kind of like Rockets fans getting upset that we took Garuba over Herb Jones. Yes it happened, but just about every team in the league would have done the same thing if they were in our shoes.
Eason is the true Steal of the Draft. The only thing potentially holding him down will be the fouls due to his aggressiveness. In time, Tari will get recognized for his defense, even by the refs. That's how dirty Drammond Green gets away from mugging other players.
because Charlotte brought Tari in for a workout and it was reported they were very interested. Their fans hoped they would take him as many of us did for the same reason
Yeah, I like it though. He's our enforcer, Jalen will be our star, and Jabari will be our do-it-all "half star". Bring in a second legit guy through the draft or FA down the line and we're in a good spot. I'm also optimistic because the Eason, TyTy, Segun picks and even low risk moves like getting KPJ for peanuts indicate that Stone has a real eye for role players and finding talent. That's not to say all these guys will be here long term...but it does mean that when we have a real core to build around and need to be judicious with cap room, aren't picking in the lottery that Stone can find the right supporting cast.
The challenge with high energy guys like Tari and Carl Landry is they often need to be in the action. If they aren't, they sometimes get bored in their careers. He will likely start here so it should not be a problem. Things to work on will include a mid-range, but also accepting that he is at best going to be a third option, but more likely a 4th or 5th, so he can't just put his head down and drive every time he touches the ball. The rim is protected at the nba level. All that said, his confidence is what you want. He just needs some skill to match it.
I think the Rockets probably foolishly stick with Tate for another season and Eason comes off the bench, but by the end of the season the starting 5 really should be Sengun Smith Eason Green KPJ I'd like to see that for the next several years, with proper development, that's a team that has everything.
Lol, why would the most talented player on the team be relegated to the bench? I know that's the narrative pushed by certain "fans", but it's as ridiculous as saying Green or Smith should be in a 6th man role. I mean, could they? Sure, but it would be stupid. You don't bench your best players.
It will definitely be Tate until bottom 5 has been assured, then he’ll get his time. I’m just hoping it’s not insane like they did to Sengun last year. He should get 20+ mins from day 1.
I do hope he accepts it. He would be good at that capacity off the bench. I there there has been a modicum of maturation regarding his career and place in the NBA.
Michael Jordan - "Players win Championships not the Organization" Well the Owner and GM are the ones Drafting and Trading for Players. Michael Jordan has been a Terrible Owner (Hornet) and GM(Wizards) Michael Jordan thought it will be real easy to win as a Owner or GM. Making fun of Jerry Krause is looking real bad. Jerry Krause has 6 Championships as GM Michael Jordan has more Lottery Appearances and selecting bad players.
