This whole thread is a parody of the "man...we got unlucky with jabari smith" thread, I don't think the OP thinks hes anything like LMA, that ridiculous thread stated Jabari was a poor mans LMA, so this one states hes a rich mans LMA. Once this thread is 100 pages long and the other one disappears people will forget why we were comparing him to LMA lol.
Jabari is fluid, slippery, incredibly quick, with the lateral movement rare in a big man. He comes off the floor on springs, whether going for a board, or a block. I’ve been surprised at the number of steals he’s getting. At that end of the court there appears to be little Smith can’t do. Recently, I’ve heard him referred to as 6’11” from time to time. Maybe he’s still growing. It hasn’t been long since he turned 19. I agree with the OP that we took a future All Star with pick #3. I think we can add future All-Defensive 1st Team to that, multiple times for both, in my opinion. Like @Clutch and some others here, he’s who I wanted with our top pick, but I gotta say that in early returns Jabari looks even better than I expected. That we got Tari Eason as well, who’s a perfect bookend in the front court, hell, all over the court with Smith, in my opinion, is icing on the Rockets’ cake. Tasty!
I mean I'm already cool w/ the idea of JG and Jabari retiring here. Tbh Tari has me on the brink of bumping Clutch's core thread too,. Am I crazy to think there's at least three championship level pieces on this team already?! The beauty being we're so incredibly young and w/ so much room still to grow that we may well draft another star next year. Feeling good like we should
The other thread served a purpose - at least we will know where to look in a few years when we want to call out some of the posters here who claim to know what they are talking about. Was just telling a friend of mine this…Jabari is a legit two way player and it’s nice to watch o w of your teams star players to take pride in defense…it really sets the tone and culture for the team.
Yeah, culture setting can't be understated - it's super important especially right now while these young players are setting the habits that will determine their ceiling.
Listen to the Mario Elie appearance on the Rocket Fuel podcast and you'll see that first championship was about having a roster of scrappy dogs. Back to the roots.
