I’d like to see Valdez go Thursday on 4 days rest so he will be ready to pitch in the ASG. I know it’s an exhibition but it’s his first time there, it could be his only time there, and I would love to see him get that honor.
First round draft pick in 2019. He’s a catcher from Cal Berkeley. He was a top 5 prospect For us, but not a top 100 type prospect. he’s got some thump and a good arm, lousy hit tool allegedly. Profiles to be a borderline starter probably really good backup. very athletic for a catcher.
I know. Was disappointed not to hear the deal. It’s why I stayed tuned in for the post game, but no such luck.
oh I think he is the catcher of the future for the astros. He was a first round pick and I believe the 3rd catcher taken that year. So Im not sure the Astros are thinking “borderline starter”. I think big things are expected of him. Obviously, hitting is not a priority at catcher for the Astros front office. He might not be Adley Rutschman but he’s a good one.
So if we do make a move for a setup man then Odorizzi is setting us up nicely as a trade piece, or at the very least trading Urquidy/Garcia. Great to see Odorizzi bounce back. Maybe he'll get back to that run he was on pre-injury.
Might not be Rutschman? He's blowing him out of the water! In all seriousness, Lee can still become an above average starter, he's only 23 and projects to be elite on defense (70% CS%!!!!)
His hit tool hasn’t been good at AAA. He probably doesn’t profile to be an above average catcher right now. Hope I’m wrong.
