It's as good an explanation as any.

Was in the car right after the game and tuned into the 790 10th inning show. They said that JJ hit two homeruns against the A's starting pitcher in a game in Sugar Land a month ago. If there was a game to start JJ, this should have been it but of course JJ bats left so that would go against Dusty's philosophy.

Why should the Astros "Let You Know?"

Dusty has said that they keep injury stuff close to the vest because they don't want to give other teams an advantage.

They let him mess around in the regular season, and the nerd cave automates everything starting in October.

Meyers is hitting, what, .313 right now? Yet Dubon and Diaz played today - Diaz should have been at SS and Meyers at DH.

The fact Niko Goodrum got 15 PAs out of the 1-3 spots in the lineup and now Dubon hitting .200 while on the Astros is getting time in the 2 hole is mind blowing…sometimes I wonder if he’s trolling.

FYI Goodrum went 1-14 with 7 Ks, 1 BB and a whopping single.

Gotta go all the way back to June 13th, almost a month, since the opposing team didn't have to hit in the 9th.

I’m almost positive this is the agreement. It’s frustrating but what are you going to do?

Perspective. Astros have 7 games left before the break. If they go 5-2, they tie 2017 for the most wins before the break by an Astros' team. Win more, they have the record. The 2017 team had a slump after the All-Star break and the 2019 team got hotter. The Astros are on an INSANE pace right now, even with missing Brantley, Pena, and McCullers. The 2017 team did have 16.5 game lead at the All-Star break, 2022 currently have 12 game lead. Those are huge leads. Resting players is important. Experimenting with certain players in the lineup is important.

Clearly it is dumb to bat Dubon 2nd when there are better options, but are folks going to continue to harp on the fact that one of the 3 times Baker hit Goodrum 1-3 was in the 2nd game of the season when the Astros were admittedly playing like it was still "spring training".

Sure... in retrospect it was bad to even keep Goodrum on the team, but to complain about him batting 3rd in the 2nd game of the season is a bit of a reach.

Lot of violence on Astros Twitter regarding Maldy. Fascinating to watch the dynamics at work.

Think maybe the sign stealing scandal broke a few fans’ brains bc I don’t remember Astros fans being this neurotic in the past.

You don't recall the pass balls vs the red sox in 2018. They were just as neurotic then. I love me some Machete and Castro but I like the mix in 2019, something like that.

I agree that it gets really nitpicky in here about the batting order. However, good sir, Nico Goodrum should never ever ever bat 3rd in a regular season game. Game 2 counts as much as the others. Fans get mad at stuff like that because it defies logic and screams cutie cute crap. Some may say arrogance. I know its all just 1 game and yada yada but it is a window into his thinking. Its just that when you look in the window its just a dusty, messy attic with old furniture from the 70’s and cobwebs everywhere. Its frustrating.

In all seriousness though, I still like Bregs at leadoff. It would also cut down on the 632 double plays he has hit into.

Ok Odorizzi. Let's have a nice normal first few innings to start this game. Lets get some of that mojo back before the injury.

Legend has it that, with the right amount of sunlight, you can see an earth wind and fire poster in there.

Ok sorry folks. I’ll see myself out.
