    Evidently in 2021 Japan only had 10 gun related incidents and a single death. Haven't looked into the details, but gotta wonder what his security detail was doing. Probably got complacent or not paranoid enough.

    I kind of assumed he doesn't have a big detail or at all while he's in Japan.

    Police are kind of a joke there compared to the rabid pitbulls we keep here...

    From what I read, security was there, but is typically a bit light, due to less crime. Also, this was a homemade gun. Seems guns are extremely hard to access there. Literally the guy waited behind Abe (across the street), and as he started his speech, he walked up and shot him from behind.

    The first shot was from what looked to be about 20 feet and missed. Abe turned around to see what it was. The second shot was from much closer, maybe five feet and got him as he turned to see what was going on.


    Easy to see how this would happen, but it's also easy to see why it wouldn't have been balls to the wall security.

    So it turns out this dude was killed due to his association with the church of unification aka the moonies

    apparently the suspect's mother had donated a lot of money to this "church" and that made her son want to seek out people involved



    lmao of all the things it was his promotion of this cult that got him in the end
