I know there are more productive things to do than update my spreadsheets, but that's all I have the energy to do.

New Lefty Line-p with Brantley and Pena Out. Both would be in the line-up if available.

    POS PLAYER OBP SLG OPS+
    CF MEYERS, Jake 385 333 718
    DH ALVAREZ, Yordan 374 477 851
    2B ALTUVE, Jose 382 758 1140
    LF McCORMICK, Chas 364 540 904
    RF TUCKER, Kyle 350 528 878
    1B GURRIEL, Yuli 300 470 770
    SS DIAZ, Aledmys 349 351 700
    3B BREGMAN, Alex 304 284 588
    C MALDONADO, Martin 242 375 617

What is the big deal? It's a freaking exhibition game. Why not give fans an opportunity to honor two of the greatest players of the past 20 years one last time?

They are an added spot and not taking away a spot from anyone.

Everyone in the bottom of this line-up is getting hot. Everyone at the top of this line-up has been hot. Hitting lefties promises to be a Great Day, both today and tomorrow.

How did Dubon and his .779 OPS not make it over Meyers or Diaz?

He's not hitting that against lefties (.481). This is specifically against left handed pitchers. In any case, the best case I can make for Dubon is .606 against right handed pitchers. Where in the world did you find .779?

Au contraire... how can we trust your spreadsheet if it's missing data like this?

It's on both MLB.com and baseball reference. Also, you even acknowledged his superior numbers against left handers a month ago.

I feel like Bregman has now had a long, consistent enough stretch of good games where I’m no longer worried about his “decline.” Maybe he’ll never be MVP runner up level again, but right now he’s playing much closer to 2017-2019 than he is to 2020-2021.

    Dubon MLB 7/9 .543
    Splits L .481
    Splits R .577
    Dubon Baseball Reference 7/9 .543
    Splits L .779
    Splits R 460

I believe the Baseball reference splits are incorrect. In any event, it is the source of the .779.

Found it. Those [Baseball Reference] were his splits in San Francisco. But it does indicate he might not be as bad hitting lefties as he's shown with the Astros.

That accounts for the .779, but it might be a combination with both teams. He was an even greater lefty platoon hitter in SF. R .249; L 1.189 according to MLB.com.

And in those years Bregman had slower April and May's, maybe not to the extent of this years struggles but definitely pronounced. When healthy he's always been a much better second half of the season hitter.

No... those are his splits INCLUDING San Francisco. You included everyone else's entire season splits.

The concern about Bregman was always overblown. His BABIP before mid June was .224, since then it's been .354. His HR/FB ratio was at a career low, now its right at his non juiced ball career norms.

I suspect his BABIP will continue to trend upward and by years end he'll have an OPS in the low-mid 800's. Off from his MVP level, but still a damn good player, could even be a 5 fWAR season.

Most players have identical Astros only splits and all team splits. In fact, he is the only player who has played for any other MLB team in 2022.
