Paolo doesnt need good guard play to be effective as a jumbo sized creator with great court vision ... Paolo makes guards play better by his own attributes.

I mean literally what I said. You didn't complain about the quality of the picks that he helped get us. Give him credit where it's due for contributing to our rebuild.

Magic was consciously trying to switch Paolo to favorable matchups, like switching on to some of the shorter guards like Nix. Paolo was 3 of 9 on non-3pt shooters (not that great). In that regard, Rockets did a decent job on him inside the 3pt line.

The offense needs to be more structured instead of random. Nix/Christopher/Tyty need to playmake more next game.

Overanalyzing is a common response to summer league games, especially when you are looking at high draft picks. BUT SL is not a good predictor of future performance. Typically, the most insecure players become ball hogs in order to get noticed. Last night was a case in point. Christopher was really trying to draw attention. In many cases, at Smith's expense. I thought Smith showed a lot of maturity in the way he reacted. Eason also wanted attention and flashed a lot of raw talent. TyTy probably caught the coaches' attention the most.

OKC was in fantastic position to contend for a decade before crapping the bed with the Harden trade and loosing Durant. You've got to be good/lucky to even be in that position. They won a game in the NBA finals, I'd call that sniffing a title.

I know that, which is why I laid out 3 potential ways we could be real contenders. Jabari Smith being a fringe all star after being taken 3rd won't help much unless we hit big in other places. It matters if he turns out better than Wood. It matters a lot. It isn't everything, obviously.

Most definitely. I really like the defensive effort from Bari and Tari last night. Those stuff don't necessarily show up in the box score.

Just finished watching the second half, not a lot changed from the first half. Nix, for all his hype as a pure pg, had zero instinct/awareness last night. I expect tunnel vision from Christopher but not Nix.

Jabari was mostly iso’d out of involvement which is somewhat expected in a game like this. Paolo clearly outplayed him but he also was given considerably more opportunity to do so.

Looking forward to some adjustments in game 2.

He clearly showed that he can bring the ball up and make good passes. He can create some of his own shots. That doesn't mean he doesn't need good guards when he is playing off ball.

And how many players that match this description as PF or C have led a team to title?

Nix and JC don’t know what is passing.

    As guards it’s pathetic.

This just confirms that Chet was best player in this draft.
