It's funny how Chet showed both, his huge potential and his potential downfall in his first two games. But personally I am sure he will bulk up some with NBAs conditioning and learn, how to handle physical defenders - but he would still be my 3d favorite of the top 3 prospects this year.
Yeah, fortunately it's easier to gain 30-50 lbs than it is to grow to 7'1" with the skills (offensively and defensively)
I don’t know anyone who has said he won’t get bullied at times. He will still win more than he loses defensively
It has been widely reported the Rockets had to go above and beyond with Yao's diet management to keep weight off his fragile feet Yao LOVED pizza and beer
I'd have to look for discussions, which I won't do but I could just be misremembering entirely. I think if someone mentions his weight though the responses you'll get is as if his weight is not an issue, which today as a rookie coming into the league with someday being DPOY, it is. How that comment gets interpreted has a range of reactions. But, if he doesn't add weight (25+ pounds), he'll never reach his potential and he'll get bullied often enough to where it's a limitation that playoff teams exploit -- just like Westbrook not being able to hit a 3, Golbert getting switched out on guards, and other obvious mismatches. I think him needing to add weight is a fair statement to make and it doesn't mean he won't gain weight. It also doesn't mean he isn't oozing with potential. It doesn't mean he is an injury prone player. It just means if you fast forward 5 years in the future and he's only put on 15 lbs, he isn't going to be the player he has the potential to be unless if he becomes an offensive elite talent. 5 years is a long time and playoffs is a ways away for OKC, so it's more possible that he does add on the necessary weight than him not.
I think there are more unfair posts guaranteeing injury for him even though he’s never been injured, and has played as much as anyone has at his age. Gaining 25 pounds isn’t a guarantee that it will help him, he may not need to to be productive. Let it play out
The only thing holding them back is Sam Presti and his compulsive need to tank and hoard draft picks.
Shaedon Sharpe??? Yikes. Ivey looked good! Cade + Ivey + Duren will be a problem in the future. edit: dammit wrong thread - sorry!
Don't feel bad, I accidentally posted in a hangout thread during the game last night. At least yours is in a SL thread.
Maybe I’m crazy because while the talking heads gush about Presti - this teams talent and future - I think the Rockets are much further ahead. Giddy is not as good as the current narrative would lead you to believe. He’s a tall point guard with no perimeter shot. How’s that working out for Ben Simmons and his teams? They need shooters and defense all around this guy to make it work. Chet would seem to offer both, but it’s going to be easy to shut Chet down and push him to the bench early in his career. Probably for a couple years until he bulks up to 115lbs. they’ve really got a weird mishmash of talent. Giddy will dazzle in up and down the floor regular season games but their offense will stagnate in late and tight situations. SGA is not what you’d call a sharpshooter. Nor is Dort. feel like they have several good role players and one potential star but a lot of fuss about their roster is made.
you dont build a team from the lottery. You go by best players available and hope one or more pan out to be a star then build around them OKC is by far ahead of the rockets even if their pieces dont necessarily fit
