Dude you sound dumb and just wanting to argue. You CAN have a discussion on here without being contrarian argumentative.
Why judge a GM by record rather than team direction? OKC sucks because they're not making moves to compete after blowing up their team. They're trying to get the highest picks possible, whether you want to call it sucking or tanking. We're in the exact same rebuilding process after trading Harden for picks. If Stone tried to be competitive these last two seasons he should have been fired. Look at what RC Buford is doing in SAS. They're clearly going all in on sucking/tanking for the next few years after trading Murray away for picks. If sucking and tanking are indistinguishable to you then he must be a terrible GM?
Pretty easy story to understand. Rockets would have taken Smith first overall but weren’t sure who OKC was going to take if Orlando went Paolo. Weren’t confident in making a decision on Chet without access to his medicals. There is no implication that the Rockets didn’t actually like Chet just that they couldn’t complete a a full evaluation. Doesn’t make sense for Orlando to trade the pick if Paolo is there guy because they don’t have a guarantee of what the Rockets or OKC will do ahead of them. Worked out perfectly for all 3 teams at the end.
when he is being used as some end all barometer, not exactly the best example to use They tried to be competitive. The team itself just wasn't any good clearly.
I think there were big time reports that Chet's camp was informed OKC would take him at 2 and he was pushing to go to OKC because of their player development and other factors
Oh, i'm sorry... yer used to talking out yer a$$ - and then not being called out for it at a later date... how millennial of you... lol yeh, add a gif... that makes your point more accurate... lol why cant you simply say "gee maybe being apprehensive about Chet has some merit... I still think he was worth the gamble, but i can understand why some might be concerned" thats all it takes... but what? your pride or narcissism cant even bring you to that simple statement? really, dude... you need some self analysis... lol
using your dumb logic of gm use. Look at presti hey he had chet from day 1. but but but stone. He's the end all barometer and knows way too much!
Paolo was definitely the guy number 1 on board. Last second Hail Mary to trade up for him failed and we landed with Jabari. they’d never admit this and will say Jabari was number 1 but this article confirms it (Stone fell in love with this Seattle phenom)
people can have different opinions.... and both opinions can have merit.... I can certainly understand why some are enamored with Chet - but i'm not feeling it... i think there will be health concerns... Can you understand why some may have concerns with Chet - even if you still think he was the best option? Thats the prob with the world today... people have their OPINIONS - and fk anybody who thinks to the contrary.... they must be stupid or evil... self reflection, son... try it...
I didn't get that at all through reading the article. It seems to me that the Rockets wanted the #1 pick to make sure they were not sitting on the clock at #3 with Chet available and no medical info. They tried to get to #1 primarily to avoid that situation. We still don't know what their board looked like so saying definitively that Banchero or Smith was at the top is silly.
Chet would have fallen to 3, and he would have most likely been Stone's pick. He complements Sengun. Jabari does too.
The article was informative, the back and forth in this thread is priceless…. Go Rockets!!! ……. ……. …….
