Starting Center: Kofi Cockburn 7'0" 293lbs Backup Center: Tacko Fall 7'6" 311lbs He had 6 blocked shots, held his ground, and overall dominated. Yes, one game ...but the naysayers are off the bad start that he can't hold his own to bigger, stronger, taller centers. He made those guys look like the JV team. To your point, let's see how he holds up over time. Kevin Durrant held up okay.
Chet is a hooper. Not going to wow you with muscle, but his skill level can't be denied. Father time and weights will add some lbs to that frame. I hope Jabari comes out and wrecks shop too.
Holmgren's 3 pointers seem effortless, as if he was putting up an easy mid-range jump shot. And his release is pretty quick. If he stays healthy, he has the skills to dominate.
The athleticism, mobility, handle and shooting touch with 7’6 wingspan (probably bigger) at 7’1 is ridiculous. Combine that with a dog mentality, the only thing stopping him is his frame. And that isn’t necessarily a hindrance as much as something to keep an eye on. Jabari has the same tools outside of a finished handle and the freakish length. I’m excited
Keep in mind that this is the Summer League. Anyone with a shred of NBA talent looks like a superstar during SL. Green tore it up in SL before stumbling out the gate when the season actually started.
When it comes to overhype, fans are just as bad as the media. That said, I would have loved either Chet or Bari, glad we were able to get one of them. The dream scenario would be for us to acquire both and end our tanking one year early... unfortunately that ship has sailed. I'm rooting for Chet to do well. Hope he keeps it up.
Don't think Jabari has the rim protection potential that Chet offers. But everything else, hopefully correct.
He showed that shot making ability and efficiency in college, Gonzaga didn’t showcase his entire repertoire.
Chet shot 39% from 3 in college. Give it a little discount in the NBA, he'll still be a very respectable 3pt shooter as a pro.
He doesn't, but he's better at perimeter D than Chet. Chet still plays really good perimeter D (especially for his size), but Jabari is better at it. Jabari have the tools to be elite at perimeter D.
Rim protection is unfortunately much more valuable than perimeter D, but you're right, Jabari does project well at it.
Yeah, I knew he could shoot, but didn't realize he could shoot off the dribble, step back, fadeaways, etc. That's a game changer.
