Players aren't allowed to be as physical as they used to be, so I don't know why people think Chet's going to break into pieces. Durant still has a small frame and dominates the league (when healthy). Plus, there aren't many Dwight Howard's in the NBA anymore. This is turning into a guard/forward league and Chet has the skills to be great without the need to add a lot of bulk to his frame.
It ain’t just that one. There’s plenty of Chet haters that have no clue and have no business talking the receipts are here forever. Best believe they’ll continually be bumped
Chet showed more of an offensive game in one game than Mobley showed in a whole season. Jabari and Paolo better bring it Thursday.
*sigh* I wanted Chet so bad. Dude is just an absolute monster, knows it, and wants to get better every day.
people still stuck in the 90’s thinking the NBA game is a series of endless post-ups and you’ll be facing Hakeem one night, then Ewing/Shaq/Mourning the next people also act like Chet was gonna be drafted to be a full time C overnight body experts acting like it’s impossible for Chet to put on weight and it would take him years to be relevant in the NBA…they didn’t learn after saying the same thing for Mobley just last year all this worry about injuries for him, meanwhile Victor Wemby built like a piece of spaghetti and has real injury concerns, but not a peep then all the overanalyzing like “against top 10 schools he did this” and “he played in a weak conference”…those skills and that level of defense translates no matter the competition
What was Orlando thinking not drafting Chet?! He can do everything. Paolo seems to have gotten most of his buckets in transition. I never saw him as a go-to player. Time will tell, but I had Chet, Jabari and Keegan before Paolo in the draft. It's going to be a fun time watching the rookies go at it this season.
Feels like Presti put out Paolo propaganda before the draft to insure he would land Chet.. Paolo was everywhere before the draft.
Butler has more in common with Jabari because already a 2 way player who shoots 3P at high efficiency.
There's a difference between admitting that Jabari handles and repertoire are below Chet&Paolo (but still able to get good numbers due to his shot) and the black&white strawman and hyperbole replies ya often do in this debate. No one ever said Jabari will be a bust, just that the other two are more developed and probably have more star potential.
If that plan had a chance it would have had to happen on draft day or right after draft. Not much chance of it happening now, unfortunately. Chet Holmgren was considered a Unicorn for a reason.
Chet was my top guy for a while….until the lottery when it became apparent we’d have no shot at him. But I said all a long any of those top three guys would be a major win and I still believe Jabari will be a major win. The player we may be kicking ourselves over is Jović. But then again, I like Ty Ty a lot too.
This is where I was, locked in on Chet, he has by far the best upside, but I am ok with Jabari now....but I do think Chet is the superstar of this draft. DD
Not bad for a Shawn Bradley type player This doesn't answer the most legit question about frame holding up over 82, but a lot of people assumed he would outright suck because he's a tall skinny white dude named Chet.
