Starting pitching last 2 games was a little weak. Still winning though. Win is a win. Bregman, Pena, Alvarez, meyers are smacking the ball around right now.
Hope he sits it out. In other news, ESPN spent 15 minutes talking about the return of Max Scherzer...and the Mets loss.
Just noticed that Seattle is starting to play pretty well recently. I guess it’s that time of the year now, the annual mid season Mariners run that ultimately goes nowhere lol
Yes I knew it was it least 12 and didn't feel looking at up at the moment. That's how great they have been I can guess low and safe with 12. If LMC makes it back to full strength by mid August these cats are gonna smash the league. Personally I hope they save the innings on JV and some of them young arms that havent pitched this amount before. Playoffs is a different animal.
Man, what a run we are on right now. Jake Meyers really seems to have solidified the lineup at the bottom of the order. It's not a black hole down there. Breggers is getting hot too. The offense seems like it's finally, maybe, coming together. I've watched enough baseball to know I should be patient, and it's a long season, but there were stretches early on where I was worried they just didn't have it. This has been a lot of fun over the past few weeks.
At the time, it was a factor in the prevailing consensus that Fast Ball pitchers would have a short career. Laugh all you want. At the time, Texas was still expecting more from Marketing Nolan than his performance. But they lucked out with Nolan, unlike Clyde.
TWENTY TWO years after Koufax retired when Ryan was FORTY ONE and had already pitched for 21 seasons, the 'short career' of fastball pitchers was at the forefront of their thinking? They didn't sign Ryan at 41 because they were afraid of him having a short career? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of any other fastball pitchers in the entirety of baseball who retired due to chronic arthritis.
Yeah, that .490 OPS he put up the rest of the week was impressive as hell. He had one great game, I'm glad he had a great game (maybe he does break out), but he has been dog s**t before yesterday.
Coming off injury, Odorizzi is still "spring training" Tucker, Pena, and Altuve should stop Shaqtin foolishly on defense
You're so much better than me at research. How about a list of pitchers over 40 who were still primarily known as power pitchers and started at least 10 games. Nolan is the only one I can find. Most examples of old players were PR stunts giving old stars a cameo. Even the great Satchel Paige last threw 10 dames as a starter when he was 37 and never again started 10 games.
