What's more frustrating is all the leadoff doubles he hits only to get stranded. He hasn't got many hits, and even the ones he does get end up being useless.
Martinez needs to stay on the 26-man roster. He has EARNED his spot. Also, very nice frame job by Korey Lee on the called 3rd strike to the second batter of the inning.
So what’s the difference w Yuli this year? I thought I remember reading during spring training how he shed some weight, tried to get in even better shape and really thought he was going to pick up where he left off last year. But we’re almost 1/2 way through the season and he’s almost incapable of making solid contact. It just never happens. Yuli coming back into form lengthens this lineup so much but at the 5 hole in his current form he’s a momentum killer.
Man's thirty-eight years old, and his game is 100% bat speed, he only added plate patience last year. I think it's as simple as he's lost bat speed, really.
Damn.... couldn't get a sac fly from Lee with that wack ass popout Eta- Altuve with the fortunate infield hit drives the run home
Thafs 100% what it looks like. He simply can’t get the bat around fast enough to barrel anything up. Everything is a slapper. Wonder if a change in approach will bring any improvements? Or if that’s what he’s working through now? Either way I’d prefer our 1B not be a total liability at the plate come post season. You need production from your corners.
