Didn't know that! Looks like he shot 3's for a few seasons slowly increasing the attempts each year. Great that he's focusing on it now, it's going to be critical that he is respected at the NBA 3pt line if he wants minutes.
It would be insane if he actually develops into a Draymond Green type player (but without the kicking and slapping). On a more realistic note, if he wants to be on the court, he needs to be in shape and to improve his 3. He's shown flashes of great defense and quick high-post passing, and he seems to want to hustle. But it was obvious he was out of shape and lacked his explosiveness. Hopefully he backs up what he said in this Hoopshype interview.
I think the key part with using stats is knowing what they DON’T tell you…. They will each tell you only a few very specific things. Context is, like, everything.
Will THIS will be the year of Garuba? The Rockets don’t seem to be too concerned about the center position.
He didn‘t look great last season, but he was also fighting injuries and probably wasn‘t in shape because of that. If he can bring the defensive intensity to the NBA that he showed in Europe and hit 36% from 3, he should get his 15-20 minutes a game between PF and C. He doesn‘t need to do more on offense than to stand in the corner and set screens. On defense he should be a very switchable defender that can defend the best player. Now we have a couple of those on our team, that could be fun.
I love when this thread comes up. Love to have Garuba show off in Summer League and in the regular season to make this OP look stupid.
Considering we have dem BkN pics for the next 5 yrs including our own? We gonna be in good shape to land the next Hakeem or Yao.
Why can't our undersized PF play PF? Why does our undersized PF have to play C, forcing our undersized SF's to play backup PF, and undersized SG's to play SF Houston forever the smallest of balls
We have height; Sengun is 6'10, Jabari is 6'10, and while he is still on the roster Boban is a whopping 7'3!
