I was just looking at the 2013 NBA Draft Class figuring out when Trey Burke was selected. Man that class was a complete dart board of guesses. Seeing a few ex-Rockets on there. This should go to show you that we shouldn't get so excited about top picks. And maybe be looking more at overseas picks if we're swinging for the fences in the mid to late round. 1 Anthony Bennett 6-8 240 PF 2 Victor Oladipo 6-4 213 SG 3 Otto Porter 6-9 198 SF 4 Cody Zeller 7-0 230 PF 5 Alex Len 7-1 225 C 6 Nerlens Noel 7-0 219 C 7 Ben McLemore 6-5 189 SG 8 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope 6-6 204 SG 9 Trey Burke 6-1 187 PG 10 C.J. McCollum 6-3 197 PG 11 Michael Carter-Williams 6-6 184 PG 12 Steven Adams 7-0 255 C 13 Kelly Olynyk 7-0 234 PF 14 Shabazz Muhammad 6-6 222 SF 15 Giannis Antetokounmpo 6-9 215 SF 16 Lucas Nogueira 7-0 220 C 17 Dennis Schroeder 6-2 165 PG 18 Shane Larkin 6-0 171 PG 19 Sergey Karasev 6-7 197 SG 20 Tony Snell 6-7 198 SF 21 Gorgui Dieng 6-11 230 C 22 Mason Plumlee 7-0 238 C 23 Solomon Hill 6-7 226 SF 24 Tim Hardaway Jr. 6-6 199 SG 25 Reggie Bullock 6-7 200 SG 26 Andre Roberson 6-7 206 SF 27 Rudy Gobert 7-2 238 C 28 Livio Jean-Charles 6-9 217 PF 29 Archie Goodwin 6-5 189 SG 30 Nemanja Nedovic 6-4 200 SG
That's just not how the NBA works. The stars have all the power. He can literally just say he's injured and refuse to play if they trade him to a team he doesn't want to play for. Nobody is going to risk the assets necessary to acquire Durant if he doesn't want to be there.
This should go to show you that we shouldn't get so excited about top picks. Always have to keep in mind that not all draft classes are made equal. John wall was drafted number 1, and he pales in comparison to Lebron, Prime Derrick Rose, and others I rather we get top picks and whiff than try to reach in drafting prospects.
Trade Eric Gordon, KJ Martin and a couple 2nd rounders for exprings and a resigned Collin Sexton @ $13 mil per. roll with Tate, Nwaba, Tari and Gary Bird at the 3 next year.
Why Not Facilitate a 3 way trade that would send Thybule and a Houston 2nd rounder some where Eric Gordan KMJ to the 76ers and Houston gets Jaden Springer a 1st rounder in 2029 from 76ers and scraps
Nets should just do the deal if they can get future picks from the Lakers u can buyout Russ or have him chase triple doubles for the year…the future Laker picks could have value
Me thinks Danny Ainge is like a Hannibal Lecter, 10-15 minutes with him, and he starts manipulating the negotiator from across the table.
I was listening to this afternoon when food shopping. Was a good listen. Couple points Rockets adjacent. As per Tim McMahon * When it come to things like Durant 3rd team deals, he says everyone (except Jalen and Jabari) are available if a deal is good enough. This isn't a huge surprise I don't think. * The other was Bucks and Mavs fighting to sign McGee, and McGee told Tim on the phone Mavs offered to start him (at the 5). Which means ex-Rocket Christian Wood will probably start at the 4 for Mavs next year.
Oh I agree that not all drafts are created equal. And sometime a draft will contain a Lebron or Shaq that you know will be a generational pick. 2013 was a total crap shoot littered with duds at the top. Obviously I'd want #1 vs #30 but just a comment that there even though we didn't have a pick, I'm sure we were all excited about someone high on that board that was a dud. Meanwhile, Euros are slipping down to mid and late pick that turn out to be franchise players or players that cause the twolves to cough up 4 lightly protected pics.
Now that I’m actually looking at this class, it’s actually quite better than I remembered. Obviously, it wasn’t good on superstar talent outside of Giannis, but lots of solid players here.
