Agreed Each one of those offers is EXTREMELY biased towards and value in favor of the Astros. Try tripling what the Astros give up in each deal and they would be fair, not that I think the team should do any of them.
I don’t know who Cole Henry is for Washington but I would think Urquidy for Bell is reasonable value for value with Bell in a walk year and Urquidy have 3 or 4 years of club control left.
Alot are under valuing the players we have. Im not really over valueing ours im jus saying no one is actually seeing that 2 of the players Ive mentioned are FAs after this year. so why over over pay for half a year? Padres are trying to dump there players they dont really need for salary cap relief
lets take the first one. Houston Astros Jake Odorizzi JJ Matijevic and Chas McCormick for San Diego Padres Blake Snell, Robert Hassell III and Luis Campusano The Padres need some Salary relief. We send them Odorizzi who is on a decent contract not a bad one. They need Young Cheap OFer help and McCormick and Matijevic could help. Snell Currently makes 20 Million then 16 million after that. No one is biting on Hosmer or Myers so essentially whom we are already connected to in Snell. Snell isnt having the best season but he still is a good SP. Campusano was already rumored to have been offered with both Hosmer and Myers. So I would think if they wanna move a Player they would have to make it interesting. So the Addition by subtraction is in our Favor.
Washington Nationals Josh Bell and Cole Henry for Houston Astros Jose Urquidy and both Peter Solomon and Tyler Ivey Josh Bell is only here for the rest of the Year. So the Value of Urquidy should be an over pay alittle due to the fact that Urquidy still has years of control. JS sayin!!!! Cole Henry is a decent Prospect He is there 3 over all prospect and is doing decently well in the Minors Add in SOLOMON and IVEY whom can be very good SPs or effective BP guys. so how isnt that not realistic???
Forrest Whitley, Colin Barber and Alex Santos for Baltimore Orioles Trey Mancini and Both Carter Baumler and Heston Kjerstad this is the Tricky one but really is it? Mancini is only here for a half a year again. so to me Forrest Whitley would be an over pay but we make that up in 9th and 27th best prospects. BOTH OF WHOM ARE IN SINGLE A. Santos has along way to go . Barber isnt to far behind Whitley. Barber is going to be a great player if he keeps it up
Well we could start with the idea that there is the fact that contending teams don't trade MLB players for prospects in a playoff run. But other than that According to baseballtradevalues Odorizzi, Matijevic, and McCormick are worth $13.6M Snell, Campusano, and Harrell are worth $68.5M The value is about $55M short. Add Pena and Siri and the value is about even
This one is actual not bad value wise. Bell and Henry are $13.3M Urquidy, Ivey, and Solomon are $16.2M The issue is that Ivey and Solomon have had terrible seasons. Ivey was waived and nobody claimed him. The Nationals are going to trade for a pitcher they could have had for free and didn't want? And his value has DECREASED from then? Solomon has so had a bad season and needs to be on the 40 man roster. He can't get hitters out in AAA so why would the Nationals give up one of their top prospects to get him?
The value on this one is the opposite The 3 players you are offering add up to $7.7M The 2 from Baltimore $11.3M Kjerstad is by far the most valuable player in this deal. Why would the Astros trade Whitley when he has almost zero value after holding on to him for years? If Whitley pitches healthy the rest of this season and gets similar results to his past healthy seasons then he will be worth all 3 of those players by himself. It would be cosmically stupid to trade him now. Also let me add that even the best prospects are a gamble until they perform at the MLB level. Why would we trade 2 of our top prospects for guys who are even further from MLB and less proven and a huge gamble?
It's like people just want to trade players for the hell of it, rather than for any particular purpose.
Why don't you post one and we'll shoot it down with a snide comment. That's the purpose of out of the box thinking. At this point, holding pat has a cost as well because we can't keep everybody because we'll lose them to rule 5.
They undervalue the value of Contracts as well. They also refuse to recognize other teams players as washed up. See the love for Snell.
