Dusty wants his lefty... then overuse that lefty... and said lefty will be scapegoated by all the fans.

This is light years better than what we started with last year... Scrubb, Ralph Garza, return-from-injury Joe Smith, wild Enoli, washed Josh James, and Pedro Baez...

Again.... no Houston fan can be considered "spoiled"

You know this, but refute a losing argument if you choose

...who would be an upgrade? Remember when Kimbrel was viewed as an upgrade for the White Sox last year?

I'm kind of just trolling, but I have been adamant that Pressly isn't a real closer. Really just looking to add further depth to the BP understanding that Pressly is set in stone.

    While being a rookie........

Pena - first career 4-hit game

Pena - first career multi-HR game

    Pena - 2nd career walk-off HR

Said increases optimism of his matching the production and playoff clutch-ness of his predecessor

    Holla Pena

Sidenote - Correa's .849 playoff OPS is lower than many would expect. Meaning, Stros didn't lose as much as fans perhaps initially thought......... Altuve is .907

That Alvarez/Pena/Tucker core leaves the window open a little bit longer.

I can't figure out Dusty. He even occasionally put's out a good line-up [one that I like]. But it's a very random thing game to game. Since he does have more information available than we have, he should get some leeway. But taking a loaded team where they should go based on talent is not a sign of a great manager nor a bad manager.

To borrow more generic terms, Dusty appears from the outside to be good at strategy and bad at tactics. To win the WS, you need hot players. Sometimes that happen because of good managers and sometimes despite bad managers. Getting to the playoffs relies more on strategy and winning the WS relies more on tactics. But both are just a nudge in the right direction, not a reason for an outcome.

Pena is going to hit a wall from MLB adjustments as well as a heavier workload than he's had the last few years. But I urge patience when this happens. He is likely to go over or through that wall. Just remember, it was not that long ago we were calling Tucker a AAAA player because he wasn't successful immediately in MLB.

The Astros at least sure seem to add Meyers to that young group. Bregman and Altuve aren’t going anywhere either for a while, and with all the pitching surplus a trade for a few offensive high potential prospects or above-average veterans should be feasible.

I don’t see any real risk of organizational falloff for 3 more years minimum on offense even post Yule/Brantley given ability to replace them, and pitching should remain great even if JV leaves.

    Life is good.

What is the maximum number of players we can lose in the Rule 5 Draft? Barring a trade, I can't see not losing the max. And there will be hand wringing and gnashing of teeth.

    Sorry, wrong thread.

Dusty is stubborn to a fault, and does not like what he perceives as interference from management. Why when he gets another player he rarely uses him, or will focus on one only and make a favorite. So click trades away Dusty's pet to force him to use the better player. Then Dusty will make a committee out of it instead of just sticking to a starter.
Or if someone suggests Dusty change the lineup, he gets furious, does whatever.

The guy drives me nuts. I think we will have to overcome Dusty to win the WS again. hell of a task.

I have a hard time believing there are any analytical that shows someone like Goodrum and even Siri or Robel Garcia last year warrants a spot in the top half of the lineup.
