Maybe they've been exposed to the Coaching staff.

When you are pretty playing everyday, you have to rest players, especially with the compressed season and a 12 game cushion in the division. I guess posters don't get that at all.

I think most knowledgeable fans understand days off when there is a stretch like this. What is puzzling is when Dusty gives guys day offs the day before open dates, especially when said player is on a hot streak which has happened several times this year.

Time off is not the issue. It is resting them while they're HOT. Dusty intentionally and consistently plays slumping players and benches hot players.

50-27. I say he is managing his team just fine.

WE KNOW YOUR PROBLEM WITH DUSTY.

The reason you rest players is to keep them fresh for October and to give backups so reps.

    He's garbage always has been.

Ah race card. That's all you do on here and support garbage managers/coaches. Thankfully nobody has any respect for you here so your opinions fall flat

There is something called staggering the rest days.

Too much talent for any manager to mess this up. Yes, I am an ageist, and rather have a Gen Xer than a Boomer lead this team.

That's a BS argument unless you are a mind reader. Once again, it's not the rest, it's who you rest and when.

And breaks rhythm for the young players. If you want to rest players, get a 9 run lead early then sub in the garbage time unit.

I'm a boomer and never played. But even I know you play the hot players to make the stroke feel right and a habit. You break habits by benching them before they are a natural part of their stroke.

    Under Dusty
2020: Garbage baseball season but the Astros overachieved to get to game 7 of the ALCS .

2021: With that pitching staff the Astros overachieved to get to game 6 of the World Series. How many times did Dusty have to piece together a bullpen game after a starter failed to go deep? Usually overachievements are credited to managers.

2022: On pace for one of the best regular season records in Astros history. After seeing how the Astros can play in NY who gives a s*** if they end up as a second seed. Yankees might get bounced in the ALDS anyway.

Only guys I'm concerned about Dusty resting is much of the starting pitching provided we enter september 15-20 games ahead in the division.

Nearly the entire rotation is set to have a career high in innings pitched, and JV has no business throwing 200 after what we saw in 2019.

Trainers rarely make good jockeys. It's a different skill set. Dusty by all accounts is a wonderful club house presence. He is a player's coach like many these days. He's like the trainer.

We have to remember what we expected Pena to be coming into the season:

A potential gold glove caliber SS with a bit of pop and speed who will likely hit at league average or maybe a bit lower and K a bit more than we would like until he get MLB experience.

That is not a #2 hitter. That's a #8 hitter. Especially considering who else is on this team.

He got off to a great start which blinded many.

    Doesn't change who he is.

Looks at 2021 pitching staff... and they didn't overachieve.... fans just disrespected their talent and potential

6 man rotation will come... my question is why do we look at IP instead of total pitch counts bc an efficient clean inning can stack up but you can fewer innings with atrocious outings

I just know that we can't win with him (like every team he's ever managed) which sucks
