I'm good friends with a couple of Yankees fans. They don't feel like the favorites that they are. They definitely think that we are favored to beat them despite their record. To them, we have a team full clutch guys and they have a bunch of chokers.
The entire Aaron Judge era of Yankee baseball (provided they never get past us) might go down like the Yankees of the 80s. A forgotten group (compared to the 70s and 90s) that never won a world series, but everyone forgets that they had the best record in baseball for the entire decade. It's remarkable, they look like the '98 Yankees reborn against twenty-eight teams.
I'm going to the 790 on line feed with a VPN. After a few early games when I could get the signal only if I tuned in before the game and couldn't after the game began, I haven't had a problem.
Looking at the series beforehand, today's game was the one we were most likely to win with Framber starting. But it's a gettaway day so who knows? It always seems like we empty the bench.
Does Dusty know that? But honestly, I was focusing on the DH with NYY and flying to Seattle and then made a comment on today's game. I'm SOOOO CONFUUUUUSED.
On the AL side of the bracket the Astros have only played in one series since 2017 (exclude 2020) when they didn't have home field advantage. Astros are 7-0 in in the ALDS/ALCS with home field and 0-1 without (2018 - Boston). Of course for some reason everything changes in the World Series.
Astros team OPS jumped 10 points yesterday propelling them to Top 5 in MLB .733 --> .743 The guys who struggled early are now hitting, the guys who always hit are still hitting (save Pena), and Meyers hasn't missed a beat Houston leads MLB in ERA (2.90) Keep up the good work
I was pretty sure the Astros needed another TOR type pitcher for the playoffs to pair with Verlander and it may have just happened internally. The Javier explosion is extremely interesting to me. His numbers suggest whatever is going on with his fastball is sustainable. Hitters know its coming, and still can't hit it. Such a wild development.
He reminds me a little of JR Richards. Intimidatingly wild. But once he found his control, he was dominant.
So much for Alvarez and Tucker hitting back to back. Even when Bregman gets a day off he puts Yuli between them. I'd swap Pena and Diaz (I don't like Pena in the 2 hole). Pena doesn't look comfortable batting 2nd.
Pena had a 3 for 3 game and I believe a 3 for 5 game in the 2nd spot earlier in the season (also a 1 for 6 game). I just think he's in a bit of a slump. Remember, he missed 12 days, came back for 3 games and then ran into Alvarez and missed another game. He could just as well be having the same struggles at any other spot without having consistent playing time recently. (Small sample size and all, but going into last night, he had his best OPS in the 2nd spot. After last night, that dropped to his second highest)
