You’ve worked closely with Rockets head coach Stephen Silas. What is it about him?

I love Silas. I think he’s such a good coach. He teaches so much. He puts the right pressure on the players but not enough for them to break. And that’s huge. That’s huge. Because I’ve played with coaches — won’t name names — that, if I wasn’t good as I was, I would have broken, and I wouldn’t have been in the league 15 years. I would have been in the league three to five years because they put so much pressure on you. You know, Silas doesn’t do that. Silas applies pressure but relieves pressure, too. He installs confidence in you but tells you when you’re lacking in other areas. But it’s not in a way where you feel unconfident; he tells you to where he makes you more confident.

For instance, if a guy’s outrebounding Al P (Alperen Şengün), coach is not going to say: “Al P, you need to get on the ****ing rebounds! You can’t rebound?” He’s gonna say: “Al P, this guy can’t out rebound you. What are you doing? You’re the best rebounder in the world. Don’t let him ****ing outrebound you.” Some kids can’t take that. Listen, I get it; it’s no boys allowed, I understand that. But it’s a different world. These kids aren’t how we were growing up. Everybody’s a social media star. So I think Silas does a good job of teaching and making guys accountable but, at the same time, giving guys confidence. That’s very hard for coaches. A lot of coaches don’t do that. Either coaches give you a hell of (a lot of) confidence, or they just scream all day. Silas does all of it, and that’s why I love him for that group. Silas is perfect for this team. I’m not a GM, I’m not (Rafael) Stone, I don’t make decisions, but I really think that he will be there for a while.

Isn't The Mayor eligible to be signed to the Rockets now?
How did he do in the G League end of last season?
Can we give him a 1yr vet Min?
I think he'd be a perfect mentor for the young kids. Someone who bleeds Houston. And he knows most of the team given he was assistant coach for half of last season.

Silas needs to teach defense and know when to make substitutions. Offensive isn't the issue here. If he can't do that, then he should be replaced by a better coach before the February trading deadline.

just bring in Hollins as AHC. rockets have been rumored to have interest way back from morey before hiring MDA, again after coach B left the team, and again recently. he's a perfect fit on the bench to teach the grit and grind grizzly defense.

would also want abdelfettah on the bench bringing some new ideas. maybe he's more of a game manager (rotations, timeouts, etc...)

together they would all really complement each other.

Silas is here to entice Luka. Once our record is better than the Mavericks, he will request a trade and everything will make sense.

    Silas is a nice guy.

However there’s a reason nice guys finish last.

    Coach Mo!

Been with the organization for years…have worked with and/or developed some of our younger players.

    Preaches defense.

Has ties to the front office as well.

Luka's game is so boring. Reminds me of a slower Harden.

You must not be talking about the same Luka as I am…

Im referring to the one that went to the WCF this year

Who knocked off the top seeded suns
Who also beat Clippers a while back

Effective doesn't mean it has to be fun to watch.
