More like Payton can guard pgs to small forwards. He's defended Tatum, Luka and many other bigger size wings this season and done a good job despite being 6"3. One caveate however is he's only played limited minutes as well as in the warriors system.
1) Kyrie probably has 3-5 years left in the tank. That's enough where he can help develop our other guys by having a competent shooter to pass to and space the floor. 2) The mentals are not a factor because if they become one you just suspend him and flip him at the deadline potentially or hold him to let him walk. If he was on a 3 or 4 year deal, i would agree with you. I look at it no different than Wall but willing to play... if he becomes just a contract, so be it, you're out a couple of future bench players in the draft... Again, i think the price is so low that it may warrant the gamble. If he's up front and says he doesn't want to make it work in Houston then i don't try to force it... He's an expiring contract. There's a short leash....
