Fayetteville gets 4 solid innings of relief from Miguel Ullola: 2 H, ER, BB, 6 K

    49 K in 31 innings. He'll enter July with a 3.19 ERA.

batting .222 with a .303 BABIP, OPS still around .800.

His >30% K% is the only thing keeping him out of the majors right now, really hope he can get that under control.

He's now 5-5. Luis Santana also has a 5-hit night for the Tourists.

Hunter Brown put together another masterful outing: 6 shutout, 7K, 2 hits, and only one walk. His night is almost certainly done after throwing 93 pitches (64 strikes, 69%). With Sugar Land up 10-0 on the road in Alex Bregman's hometown, he is in line for the win.

Man at least needs time in the bullpen this season, 2017 and 2021 showed us just how useful multi-inning firemen are.

People on Twitter have also talked about how the Brewers in 2018/19 had a very similar situation with Corbin Burnes, and they eased him into the big leagues by starting him as a long reliever and then promoting him to the rotation full-time.

Scott Elarton started in the bullpen as well. I sometimes wonder if that impacted his development with injury

David Price and Chris Sale started in the bullpen. With that said, as much as I would love to see Brown pitch successfully at the MLB level, things are already a little stuffy with Odorizzi seemingly coming back soon.

Can we just make Yuli like president of baseball operations or head of scouting once he retires?

The cuban prospects get horny to come here due to him.

    Stock watch entering July

    Up

Sandy Gaston - Yes I know, it's not wise to get excited about complex-league players, but I'm doing it anyway. It's getting hard to ignore what Gaston has done to start his pro career. Should see him make his US debut soon.

Miguel Ullola and Edinson Batista - While Carlos Calderon has stumbled a little (he still has very respectable numbers), Ullola and Batista have probably been Fayetteville's two most consistent pitchers this season. I'd honestly consider keeping them in Fayetteville for the entire year so they can have some sustained success. No need to see them get demolished in Lancaster East.

Yainer Diaz - Figuring out his regular defensive position remains the big question but at some point, the bat's gonna be too good to keep down.

Kenedy Corona - Looking like this year's Wilyer Abreu. A log jam in the outfield above him means that Corona will probably have to bide his time in Asheville, but he looks like he could use a test in Corpus to start 2023. That's tough for him and Quincy Hamilton, who's probably been one of the most consistent bats in Asheville's lineup since his promotion.

Colin Barber - Nothing left to prove in Asheville.

Justin Dirden - Nothing left to prove in Corpus.

    Down

Chayce McDermott - Missed the window to get him out of Asheville.

Shay Whitcomb - Another rough month has seen his pretty big swing-and-miss tendencies exposed badly. That 34% K rate has to be slashed. To be fair, he's got a .264 BABIP through three months, so maybe he's due for some better luck.

Enmanuel Valdez - Tough to include him here when he's been so good this year, but he is going through his first extended slump this season. Let's see how he responds.

I would mention Christian Mejias in that group of Fayetteville pitchers. 29k, 4bb in 21.1 ip in June. He’s having a bit of a breakout season. Between Mejias, Ullola, Calderon, Batista, and Santa (who’s still hurt), I’m sure we’ll get at least one really good mlb arm.

After a 2 hit night, Korey Lee finishes June with a .271/.340/.482 slash line on the month (.822 OPS). He also struck out fewer times in June than any other month, and in more plate appearances than any month. Very nice to see that.

Having a good little breakout year after six years in the system. Mejias seems like just a guy to me at this point, but the Astros have had a few JAGs make it to the big league level.

I think he's up for minor league free agency this year?
