I'm going to use the phrase because that's what is going on...

Harden ran the Rockets into the dirt. Lebron ran the Cavs into the dirt, then went to LA and ran them into the dirt. Durant/Kyrie have run the Nets into the dirt.

These guys are not GMs. They have no concern about the long term prospects of the team, nor do they know much about the finances involved.

There is a reoccurring theme that teams who allow their stars to run the show, typically end up in the shitter sooner rather than later.

Know which teams don't have egos? The Warriors. The Celtics. The Heat. Teams with stars, but also teams with front offices who A)know what they're doing and B)know that players are NOT the ones who should be making player personnel decisions.

Give it 10 years on this road and there won't be a need for GMs... Why would you waste the salary when the players are going to tell YOU exactly who you're going to bring in.

Only in Sports do we call the talent “inmates”.

Is Tom Cruise an “inmate running the asylum” with Paramount pictures because he delayed Top Gun Maverick for a year of re-shoots?

Perhaps labor managing the branch would be better phrasing

I'm just quoting this because it needs to be repeated

Also, I'll add that LeBron is at least a top 10 GM maybe top 5 over his career. He made the mistake with Westbrook but he's put together some decent teams that wouldn't have happened without his diligent effort.

Hollywood is a magical place where the most vile, degenerate, and perverse show you how to live.

As for this thread, what happens if the Nets simply refuse to trade KD? He just signed a 4 year extension, or simply trade him to somewhere he doesn't want to be.

I'm still in favor of millionares over billionares.

    I'll say it. Racist lol

I agree with the sentiment of the post but the analogy in the title isn't appropriate.

Are the terms labor and management no longer considered acceptable in the context of business operations?
    I can't keep up

I've used that phrase for 35 years, and the only time I've used it as a sports reference... Was here. It's an accurate description to describe nearly every prison in south America, is it not?

And no, Top Gun was a success, so that wouldn't really apply here, would it?

If Top Gun was a flop, I'd totally agree with you...

    But, it wasn't.

Why would as person as talented as a Lebron James let his career and legacy be decided by an NBA GM? Some 12th man who couldn't cut it in the league. Who only got the job because he reminded the owner of himself at a young age. Some guy whos gonna get fired in 2 years.

Lmfao leading a franchise that was in the dumps to the playoffs every single year and 2 WCF equates to leaving them in the dirt? Lol he made Houston relevant again. Lebron lead Cleveland to multiple finals appearances with doo doo rosters and eventually won a ring. Fans ar crazy.

I mean on one level i get it because its change but - honestly we pay attention to the NBA bc of the players not the owners

F-k the owners. Nobody wants to see Joe Lacob s pasty ass waving the trophy around. They're just trying to get paid same as the players - they were just born way luckier.

Harden? Okay sure… LeBron on the other hand has won a championship for every franchise he’s played for.

Yeah I get it, but ...
The owners are really the franchise more than anyone else
Players come and go, even the great ones, but ownership can become a generational legacy
    They measure time in decades

Never forget, we all root for the Fertita Rockets now
As Bud Adams taught us, Houston is just the Rockets' current headquarters
