he can both pass and hopefully shoot the 3 a bit better overall this year . Guy is still being underrated. I know he’s old for his xp level , but he showed really good character despite being on a horrible team . he tried to do too much as an inexperienced player with a limited skillset . he’s gonna have a great year next to a more mature jalen and alperen + smith . I like Tari Eason a lot . But , given he’s completely untested at the next level you can’t just pencil him in as a starter . maybe he’s ultimately a bench guy on a good team , but don’t sleep on him . What if that 3 point percentage goes up ? I compared him to Chauncey billups in the past , but this guy plays the game with heart and desire . Imo he has “it” just isn’t a superstar . I’m so pumped to see our starters try to gel over the course of the season . Kpj will be the wildcard imo .
You say that, but he just gave Tate a bench role player contract... If Stone really wouldn't trade a scrub like Tate for a first round pick in a heartbeat, he won't remain GM long.
I didn't say he was wrong, I said that if Stone is really that dumb, he shouldn't remain the GM long. Tate is by far the worst projected starter on a team starting 2 teenagers, a 20 year old, and a 22 year old next to him. If he's still starting in 2 years, the Rockets really screwed up the rebuild.
Not if he's dumb enough to think that Tate is the 3rd most valuable player on the Rockets roster. That's just unacceptably stupid.
This is exactly my perspective and think it’s a great move by Stone in terms of capology. Saves us money in the years that matter. Also, still a very tradable contract.
pj Tucker just made 10 + million a year at his old age . salaries will keep going up . Tate will be in his prime .
Maybe the Heat could have been called idiots if they were to have hypothetically refused to trade Haslem for a late first 15 years ago, but sometimes the lockerroom and team culture impact a player brings is more valuable than meets the eye to most fans. If Cod says Tate is considered near untouchable by the FO and every article I've read says the Rockets value Tate really highly, maybe he's important to the team.
Good fungible deal, he gets more in year 1, and he is off our books earlier.....and on a reasonable below market contract. Win win. DD
Tate is a big culture guy and I think that’s why Stone values him third overall..It’s smart to build our culture the right way and have solid, hard working veterans around the young guns. However, I’m 100% against him starting for us moving forward. KJ and Easons potential alone should put them ahead of Tate in the depth chart.
