Doesn’t mean anything. Lots of former lottery picks aren’t as good as Tate.

not a bad contract - for either side...

i still feel like we'll be attaching at least a 2rp to dish it off at some point in the next couple years...

Tate will be a 10 million dollar player at least each year of this deal .

    getting great value .

Tate is a G . His next contract will be for more than double .

It means no one would gamble on Tate being better than a lotto pick.

This is a silly point. For one, Tate would absolutely fetch a first. Second, his trade value isn’t the point. You can’t assume the 17th pick will be an immediate starter. A team is pretty lucky if they land a decent rotational player in that draft range, especially year 1.

No team give short forward that contract, especially he can’t shoot 3pt and pass the ball.

I think if anyone offered a first for Tate, Stone would jump on that in a heartbeat.

Well yeah, you don't get food like Houston has just anywhere. When I moved away for a couple years I couldn't wait to get home!

If Royce O’Neal can land a first, Tate absolutely could.

Here's hoping for a declining structure, since the Rockets don't need the caproom this season, but could save about $1.2M in salary in 2024-2025 by giving Jae'Sean some extra cash up front. If the Rockets really do go double max in 2023, then retain KPJ after taking advantage of his low cap hold as an RFA, they will probably butting up against the LT.

Example of a Standard Contract with 8% Raises due to being an Early Bird FA:

    Standard
    2022 $6,820,000
    2023 $7,365,600
    2024 $7,911,200
    Total $22,096,800

Example of a Declining Contract with 8% Decreases due to being an Early Bird FA:

    Declining
    2022 $8,006,000
    2023 $7,365,520
    2024 $6,725,040
    Total $22,096,560

All that being said, declining salaries are very uncommon and cost the team more overall in real money. Someday I hope to be pleasantly surprised...

Royce O'Neale knows how to shoot a basketball, Tate does not.

    And yet, Tate scores more.

I’m not having this discussion with you. Codman literally said that Tate is just behind Green and Sengun with respect to value in Stone’s eyes. So spout off all you want about Stone would trade him for a first. You’re wrong.

To tell the truth I would have settled for more.I get a feeling a lot of people keep sleeping on Tate.Hes an automatic bucket around the basket, can guard bigger players, tough and has little more experience than the new younger core.Yall talk about his 3 I think he can knock it down enough for what he brings to the table.I think he will play an important role for the Rockets next season.
