I'd like for him to come back next month.

It has to be infuriating when you make your pitch and the umpire blows it

JV throws a perfect pitch well in to the zone. Umpire fails to call a strike. 4 pitch at bat turns in to a 12 pitch at bat. Nice Ump

This is where a hybrid statcast live zone and a humans calling balls/strikes would be likely embraced by both sides.

Make it like tennis… a statcast umpire can overrule the calling on the field immediately. Meanwhile you don’t need to “review” every controversial call, nor do you need to take all the ball/strike calls out of the umpires decision making (and human element still needed for foul-tips, catchers interference, etc.).

Yeah, no juice in the lineup right now.

That's basically, sort of, the system they're using in the minors. You get 3 challenges a game (seems way too low to me), and it's pretty instantaneous.

Yes, that is low. The hope is that they just want to get every call right… or maybe reserve it for calls that determine K’s vs. walks.

Let’s see if Tucker can steal a base.

    Why was Castro batting?

Even when he made decent contact his lack of power and speed got him thrown out at 1st from the outfield

Pretty typical performance after an offensive explosion but it’s not like Walker is a slouch. Maybe we can get to their pen.

No point in pulling Maldy off the bench on his rest day. It’s not like this is a must win plus JV is pitching well w Castro behind the plate.

Given where they had the 2B playing, anyone slower than Vince Coleman gets thrown out on that
