Democrats are probably not win Florida no matter who runs.
    Biden shouldn't run again.
And nor should Hillary - the right would have a field day attacking her.

Agree on all points. Democrats should focus their resources on states other than Florida, unless things change drastically and they also happen to have unlimited resources

Hillary is not running. The pollster and the op are trolling by putting her in a poll and writing an article about it. You can put in Ronald Reagan in a California presidential poll and probably get similar laughable response results.

My guess is depending on the results of the mid terms, if Dems underperform Biden announces he won’t run and the focus is on his legacy on the way out to restoring Democracy through whatever he can do with executive power, and at least two primary candidates run. One progressive like AOC and someone more like a Chris Murphy type. Stacy Abrams too isn’t a slouch if she runs and would be hard for the right to beat. All three of those would clobber Hillary if she ran which she won’t.

    https://althouse.blogspot.com/2022/06/youve-heard-of-smoking-gun-now-comes.html

You've heard of the smoking gun. Now comes the splattering ketchup.
    by noreply@blogger.com (Ann Althouse)

From "Here's every word from the sixth Jan. 6 committee hearing on its investigation" (NPR):

He motioned for me to come in and then pointed towards the front of the room near the fireplace mantel and the TV, where I first noticed there was catsup dripping down the wall and there was a shattered porcelain plate on the floor. The valet had articulated that the President was extremely angry at the Attorney General's AP interview and had thrown his lunch against the wall, which was causing him to have to clean up. So I grabbed a towel and started wiping the catsup off of the wall to help the valet out. And he said something to the effect of, he's really ticked off about this. I would stay clear of him for right now. He's really, really ticked off about this right now..... There were — there were several times throughout my tenure with the Chief of Staff that I was aware of him either throwing dishes or flipping the tablecloth to let all the contents of the table go onto the floor and likely break or go everywhere.

Now that we know about the ketchup — "catsup" — what should we do? How off the norm is it to express anger in the White House by throwing an object?

I think first of Hillary Clinton throwing a lamp at Bill. Did that happen? I'm seeing "That ‘Hillary Clinton threw a lamp/book/Bible’ story has been circulating for ages" (WaPo):

“Washington dinner parties [in 1993] were buzzing with stories of Hillary throwing — take your pick — a lamp, a briefing book or a Bible at Bill.”... Fast-forward to 1998, just after President Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky was revealed — and a full five years after the buzz over Hillary throwing books and lamps had become established Beltway lore [and there's a story that a] White House maid discovered blood all over the president and first lady’s bed, and called in a residence staffer....

Blood! At least it wasn't ketchup.

The lore is that Hillary threw "the infamous edition of 'Leaves of Grass' that Bill Clinton eventually gave to Lewinsky and that the first lady had discovered the gift intended for her husband’s mistress."

“It’s not certain” that the book was the Lewinsky one, “but the staffer’s memories paint a picture of the tension.”

And then there’s the matter of lamp-tossing. [One book sources] the story to former florist Ronn Payne, who recalls hearing the Clintons fighting behind closed doors. He apparently heard Hillary call Bill a “******* b*stard” and then the sound of a heavy object being thrown.

“The rumor among the staff,” [says the book], “was that she threw a lamp.”... During a televised White House tour in June 1993, interviewer Katie Couric jokingly asked the first lady to point out where she was when she tossed a lamp at her husband. “Well, you know,” Clinton responded. “I’m looking for that spot, too.”

ADDED: Is this post unfair? Yes. That's deliberate. It's intended as a commentary on unfairness. The January 6th committee hearings are unfair.

What? How are the Jan. 6th hearings unfair?

And if they were, how does Althiuse' post in anyway show the hearings to be unfair?

I'm not a fan of the crap Althouse puts out, but this turd is especially stinky.

    Is this surprising?

I don't think the Democrats expect to win Florida in 2024.... especially not if DeSantis is the nominee, it is his home state. Even Trump lives in Florida and didn't he win it in 2016 and in 2020?

Also not a real surprise that Clinton would be ahead within the margin of error with the economy the way it is.

The White House is there for the taking for the Republicans in 2024 short of Americans changing their perspective on the economy.

The biggest problem for the Republicans is to figure out how to handle Trump if DeSantis beats him for the nomination.... because the Donald would likely go rogue third party and keep DeSantis from winning.

Sure. It kind of was. It was all kind of funny until the end when Althouse claimed it was a commentary about unfairness and that the Jan 6th hearings were unfair.

It ruined what would have been a fine piece.

I'm just spitballing here, but maybe by "unfair" she means something like (a) it's a circus trial because (b) there are no "real" Republicans on the committee.

    just a guess

I guess Althouse was somewhat politically and socially in touch 35 years ago?

At this point she should probably watch Survivor re-runs, sip her Kendall Jackson chardonnay on her porch and go to Outback Steakhouse every weekend with her husband.

She has to be in her 70's? It is like she is stuck in a time warp from a bygone era.

well, she's retired after teaching constitutional law for over 30 years after graduating first in her class at NYU Law School. I understand she's enjoying a new truck camper that she uses for travel with her husband

Isn't that the committee that Republican Kevin McCarthy decided to boycott by withdrawing all his nominees?

It seems that perhaps the Republicans did this to themselves? There are two Republicans on the committee.... but if only there was a way that there could have been more Republicans on the committee?

Yes, she has been around a long time and she is likely a nice person in person..... she is just out of touch at this point. It will happen to almost all of us. She lives in her little bubble and the world has passed her by. Maybe see and Biden and Trump can go out to TGI-Fridays for drinks and discuss the latest copy of TV Guide Magazine or why it is so hard to find prime rib now.

Cheney is absolutely a real Republican. The only issue she seems to not be on board with the party is allegiance to Trump and accepting an attempt to overturn Democracy. She supported overturning Roe and votes conservative on almost every single issue. Cheney is the co-chair of the committee.

Republicans had the option to put more Republicans on the committee as long as they weren't likely to be a subject of the investigation. Republicans refused.

Also it isn't a trial. They won't acquit or convict Trump.

I don't buy that Althouse was unaware that it wasn't Democrats that prevented them from being on the committee.

If she wanted to complain about lack of Republicans on the committee, she should have addressed criticism at the Republicans who opted to not seat more members on the committee.
