I think it's cool that he wants to have a life fulfilled outside of basketball but just go ahead and retire after this season. He would have pocketed over $200 million in contracts and endorsements in his career and it's painfully obvious he dgaf about being a professional basketball player. Him stringing his employer (and, in turn, the employees that depend on the success of said employer like coaches, trainers, teammates, arena workers, etc.) on is a selfish dick move.
I' m lol-ing at the difference in reporting between Woj and Shams. Woj said Kyrie couldn't find a satisfactory trade and Shams saying there were trades on the table
Any smart GM wouldn't touch Irving with a 10 ft pole. The dude is unpredictable and toxic. You can't trade for a player that might or might not come to work. Brooklyn now has to find a trade partner that won't make them grab the proverbial ankles to get rid of Irving. I said it last summer and I'll repeat it now: Brooklyn should have traded Irving, instead of Harden, to Philly for Simmons. That would make more sense than anything, even with a gimpy Harden.
Selfish, scared and with a bunch of weird ideas that are unshakeable as they are stupid. If you don't make a right first impression on him and gain his respect, your opinion won't ever matter - seems like a horrible employee, teammate and uncoachable. Harden keeps on making stupid decisions running his legacy into the ground by joining Nets. But it was definitely the right trade for Rocket's now that the utter toxicity of the Irving dude has been undeniably confirmed.
57 seconds of him saying absolutely nothing. If Kyrie Irving actually had a brain and worked on bettering himself on the court, he'd be a top 5 player in the NBA. All that talent. For nothing.
I don't think he was ever going to be a top-five player. IMO, he's basically Lillard if Lillard were a headcase.
Nothing wrong with him wanting everything, but dude obviously feels like he's owed big money while screwing everyone else over.
All this is semantics. Selfish? Because he didn't take a vaccine YOU wanted him to take for basketball reasons? Scared? Of what? And his ideas are his and shouldn't be on any GM's mind The REAL reason most ppl hate Kyrie is because he left Lebron, and they have a obsession with him.
Brooklyn folks who bought tickets to watch his games, his teammates, told Boston he'd resign then ditched them soon after. Can't trust that guy on the court or to keep his word. Next level diva ****. Must be great to keep a full contract while playing half a season. Would watch, like and subscribe.
So he screwed over fans by not choosing to get HIS body vaccinated? And by not resigning with Boston he screwed over fans like you? Isn't that HIS personal decision?
Kyrie strikes me more as a faux spiritual person. I think we're going to see a lot more guys like him with Gen Z coming of NBA age. All sorts of woo believers who want to be TikTok influencers and not actual athletes.
I don’t know how kyrie is as a person behind the scenes but in the video just seemed like he wants to enjoy life. I don’t think he will ever be confused for being the smartest person but I respect his stand regardless. The only person he screwed was himself by not getting the vaccine literally costing himself millions that year and at least millions moving forward. All the people acting like he wronged the nets and fans by not putting a rushed vaccine into his body with who knows what long term side effects. Of course when trump was president everyone in media was calling it what it was. Then he’s out and it’s a perfectly safe experimental vaccine now… please. The only one who screwed the nets and their fans was the crap state they live in and I have no sympathy for that as they made their own bed there. Forcing employees to put something they don’t feel comfortable with in their body or not being able to work is not healthcare it’s government overreach and against our constitutional rights. The really funny thing is when it was about to be a larger problem with baseball season starting and many Yankees players refusing to take the vaccine they changed the rules not for the common people but just the privileged and public. Of course no one is talking about that.
