I hear you but for Jabari all signs point to that he can do it. it's been a constant stream of "but wait" with Jabari, and with that I mean:

people say he is not good scoring in the paint, but wait the stats show that was only with Kessler on the court. does he need to get better at it? most definitely, but maybe it's not as big a weakness as once thought
the whole dribbling thing but wait now after folks break down more film he actually has a good amount of dribble drives. same thing with post moves, etc.

every top draft pick can have their game broken down the same way. if the Rockets been able to take Chet or Paolo there were folks in either camps that'd be doing the same thing that Jabari is getting now. so I get it. Im excited because I think sneakily Jabari has a higher potential than what was put on him initially

    Maybe
it's a visual view of one game at the start of his career and I can see him being more like LMA with a 3 point shot than Dirk who had more of an ability to make tough shots.

The thing is the skillsets of Dirk and LMA are not so valuable anymore so are we going to feature that in our offense to maximize him?

What modern-day player does he comp too?

What modern-day offense features a lot of post-play?

to me, he’s absolutley capable of being a “tough shot” maker .

that shot is pure fire . There’s going to be no stopping it when he’s on .

like LMA vs us in that playoff series . Also kinda like dirk .

I wanna see what he looks like with another great PnR player . I’m not sure we have on one the team right now . kJ , green , Tate , sengun are ALL interesting options .

I think he will be insane in the pick and pop . We can have 2 point range versions and 3 pt range versions .

What if Omri Caspi was even better at shooting and played great D ?

Ok I don't disagree with any of this, I just don't want to be dependent on a tough shot maker.

I'm a little concerned why you have that image. Btw I don't dislike you. Just fun to talk a bit of trash

I feel like some of the Jabari disbelievers galaxy brain why he won’t be good. Frown on the good, smile on the bad. Watch some of the replays from his Auburn days. Toyota Center is going to love the kid.

If y'all remember the absolute crucifying of Green when he struggled, I fear for whatever adjustment period Jabari has.

Why don't we let Jabari, just be Jabari?

I get more excited the more I learn. He's potentially a generational shooter. He's an elite defender. Now, he's a trash talker. Damn, I'll take those 3 attributes every day.

I'll bet his handles/passing aren't as underdeveloped as we may think and with NBA spacing we see some more of his potential in these areas. Let's go SL!

Did you not watch a lot of dirks career? It’s not hard to remember how he played. It was much like this one but better. To the extent it’s just one game in his rookie year, indeed!! Most of his rookie year games were worse/much worse. He only scored more than 20 points 3x his rookie year. In fact in the 47 games he played he was in single digits 30 times.

so the point was, early in his career, when showing glimpses of what he might become, what did he look like? And it’s pretty much as expected.

as for your comment about the modern nba, well one thing is for certain, Jabari is going to take a lot more 3s than Dirk and insanely more 3s than LMA. Dirk NEVER shot more than 5 a game… kind of crazy given 2022 nba… and that he shot them at 38% for his career. The rest of their offensive games? Idk… I don’t think there HAS to be every star player on your team that is “heliocentric”. Theres plenty all stars who aren’t. More interesting to me will be how hard they work with him if at all to eliminate some of the long 2s. The data and math is the math and I agree with it - long 2s generally suck. HOWEVER, it’s pretty fair by now to say some element of a mid range game to your teams offense is beneficial. Mainly, your offense can’t just be one or two things… not come playoffs when good teams will scheme away your strengths.

personally i was going to be very happy with Paolo - offensively. BUT… it will be extremely refreshing if Silas can put in an offense that isn’t solely heliocentric... when I had Paolo ranked lower it was mainly BECAUSE of the heliocentric nature of his offense. There’s a ball stopping quality to it. It’s not fast twitch. There’s not much “flow”… HOWEVER, as a college prospect, at 6’10, if his 3 point shot comes around, he’s going to be insanely good at it and indeed for a team that needs that “engine” then it makes sense.

I don’t really envision Silas installing a world class offense. That said, one interesting thing to me is that for the most part these players Stone is taking are very much “flow” players. JG excels in movement (while also being able to pure iso one on one). Sengun’s all about creativity (but can also iso). Jabari doesn’t seem like a “im going to hold the ball for 5-7 seconds as I survey” type dude either. Fast decisions. That’s way more exciting basketball to me. KPJ is the one that has struggled the most with this. I guess an ideal offense has a lot of Alpi at the top of the key with folks running off him, Jabari maybe posting or having someone else (the 3 man) set a down screen as the guards run off Alpi type stuff. It could be the perfect mix of dynamic offense and iso/PnR spread ‘‘em lit simplicity.

one thing is for sure… even with the best at it in the world - eg Luka today - watching heliocentric basketball is boring, relatively speaking. I don’t want to watch it… but will if it maximizes their talent.

You were here as much as I was the first 40 games last year. That was absolutely crazy in regards to the Green hate.

    Dirk scored 8.2 ppg at 21% from 3 as a 20-year-old rookie.

I wouldn't say it's 100% certain. But that's a pretty low bar to reach for Jabari as a 19-year-old rookie.

He is a healthy version of Michael Porter Jr. but can also defend.

Jabari is going to come in here with the personality of Damien Carter and turn this group of talented but quirky group of trouble young men’s into sir’s.
