Hell yeah, free talent with that size. We cannot find players like that and this year they literally fall in our lap after Sengun. I definitely want a team of bigs and we need all the talent we can get at wing and rim protector. D first after being last in the league. He moves too fast for his size. He obviously is not Durant but if the kid can put on 40 pounds of muscle he could grow into a hell of a wing/rim protector.
It was absolutely insane for him to enter the draft. He wasn’t even close to being ready. You know how they say a guy is two years away from being two years away? That’s this dude. He still needs a lot of work.
who knows? I certainly like the idea of him. but I liked the idea of zhou qi too. he was a legitimate elite shot blocker with developing 3 point range. no idea why they gave up on him so early, but then again he never became an nba player anyway. maybe same with this kid? I'd rather spend the money to bring Hartenstein back. he's the new "one that got away" taking that title from covington.
This guy's not a center. He's really more of a legit small forward. He's not Durant but he plays in the same style as Durant. Moves his feet well on defense, shoots the 3 well and is a good weak side shot blocker. Butler isn't a guy who's playing on the perimeter because he's too thin to play inside. He's a 3 because of his game. Seems odd that he's unsigned.
I honestly don’t know where you’d play him right now. He needs so much development he’d be a liability at almost any position at probably any professional level. You would need to be very patient and be willing to wait, literally, years before getting any potential return on your investment. I completely get why he wasn’t drafted. Now, not to totally **** on the guy, because I do think the potential is there under the right circumstances. I don’t dislike him as a prospect, he just needs more work than I think most NBA teams are willing to give. He made a really bad decision to enter the draft when he did.
I don't think he would be too much of a liability. Defense and shot blocking translate on any level. Especially in the G.
well I agree that he appears very skilled for that size. I'm not sure, although I won't argue that you're wrong, about him being a 3. I think most average sized wings can get under his dribble and make him a pull up shooter. I think he can probably dribble by bigs more than wings... and defend bigs better than wings. but I'm with you, interesting skill for his size and should be signed at least to a summer league roster.
Based on those short clips seems like a great player to snag and develop in the GLeague as his body develops into an NBA-ready body. Looks like his skillset and mobility might allow for a skinnier frame as well (still would need to add 20 lbs though)
Should have stayed in school. They were going to feature him as a sophomore and he could have been a late lottery pick.
"Make him a pull a shooter"? No need, that's exactly what he is. I'd disagree that he'd defend bigs better. The kid weighs in the 170s. He's basically Chet's height but 20 lb lighter. The kid is definitely a development project. He won't be ready to play for a while. Still, with his upside it's puzzling why he hasn't been signed yet by somebody.
Patrick just needs to put his foot down and take a chance on this kid. https://factoryofsadness.co/2022/06...agents-the-cleveland-cavaliers-should-pursue/
