    Ha!
Ha! Bill Maher very very articulately expresses why that is a terrible idea.

Notable & Quotable: Justice Scalia’s Prescient Dissent
‘We should get out of this area, where we have no right to be, and where we do neither ourselves nor the country any good by remaining.’
    June 24, 2022 5:24 pm ET

Justice Antonin Scalia dissenting in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, June 29, 1992:

There is a poignant aspect to today’s opinion. Its length, and what might be called its epic tone, suggest that its authors believe they are bringing to an end a troublesome era in the history of our Nation and of our Court. “It is the dimension” of authority, they say, to “cal[l] the contending sides of national controversy to end their national division by accepting a common mandate rooted in the Constitution.” . . . Quite to the contrary, by foreclosing all democratic outlet for the deep passions this issue arouses, by banishing the issue from the political forum that gives all participants, even the losers, the satisfaction of a fair hearing and an honest fight, by continuing the imposition of a rigid national rule instead of allowing for regional differences, the Court merely prolongs and intensifies the anguish.

We should get out of this area, where we have no right to be, and where we do neither ourselves nor the country any good by remaining.

Appeared in the June 25, 2022, print edition as 'Notable & Quotable: Scalia.'

The people of Louisiana also wanted slavery at one point, forcing a woman who was raped to carry her rapists child just because the egg was fertilized 1hr ago and some fundamentalist POS thinks it s a baby infringes on her rights as a person

The Mt. Rushmore of those most responsible for this decision are Donald Trump, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Harry Reid, and Anthony Weiner

Honestly if this is how he feels, he's a coward. It's not just he who has no right to be in this area, gov't has no right to be in this area. You can't say Roe V Wade is wrong and terrible law, and then keep the part that says the state has an interest in governing a woman's uterus. That's bullshit.

Get politics out of women's bodies. If gov't can't tell you to get an effing shot, they shouldn't be telling people if they can or can not take an abortion pill.

Travesty of justice to let people's religious beliefs enter into government and control of people. The supreme court failed to uphold one of the nations most sacred tenets in separation of church and state.

I think perhaps you miss the point of what he’s saying in that passage

Oh I get it, but I disagree with the logic 100%. There's tons of unenumerated rights you can say don't belong at the federal level and let the states decide by his logic, including civil rights.

Miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies and the like will be illegal in some states??? Wtf?? Are people insane?

you know what else is alive? Cancer… maybe we should make treating cancer illegal. Cancer also has a right to live!!!

what about pregnancies where the fetus has some serious genetic conditions? A fetus that is going to be born love a couple years with no quality of life, immense health care costs, etc can’t be aborted?

    wtf.

I think America is ****ed personally. We might as well go all the way back and make slavery legal, remove child protection laws and any/all other kinds of social progress made over centuries.

There’s a reason America universally ranks as a meh country to live in across tons of relevant metrics.

He’s talking about the Supreme Court creating policy. In Roe, seven individuals created policy out of whole cloth, “from scratch,” so to speak. It’s a different vision of the role of the Court. For better or worse, that vision is being implemented now.

I disagree the Roe v Wade was a creation of policy but instead of a recognition of a right. What he is doing is saying that rights should be governed by the states, not protected by the courts.

Ultimately we see this issue under very different lenses

No, I did, and you can't provide any examples of it happening apparently.

My knowledge on philosophy is not strong but I will say this - whether or not rights are created by the state or not or viewed as nonsense, this country was founded on specific human rights and guiding principles of personal freedom, and the decision made here is treasonous to those ideals.

This is the elephant in the room that will become obviously clear in the coming months.

To prove the difference of an abortion or miscarriage will mean the government getting entirely into your business. Going to be fun times for people!
