I think Atkinson realized he could be a HC for any given team at any given time, and that his best chance of getting another ring within the next year or two, is with Golden State. If it were me, I'd rather "assistant coach" a Curry/Klay/Green/Wiggins core while the "Kuminga/Wiseman/Poole/Moody" core matures - once the old guard ages / retires, the new core is already in place and Kerr's job is probably yours.
good point. I could also see Kerr running for office (his Dad was actually one of the most respected political scientists in the world at one point)
