Morally unconscionable? I think it’s clear that this is a minority perspective on fetal and embryological life. I do not deny that an embryo or fetus is alive, but I refuse to equate that to having the same status as personhood or being alive as we know it. Various religious doctrine supports this (look into when the soul enters a body).

Cardiac activity are detected around 6 weeks estimated gestational age when the fetal pole is a few mm in length, basically a grain of rice in a grape. It’s not yet a heart, but anti abortion advocates don’t really care about that.

This was never about life, the 'Christians' don't care about that.

It's about their puritan beliefs that they want to force on all people. They think this punishes women for having sex outside of marriage. Jokes on them, people will still be having abortions and sex outside of marriage.

They'll make this clear when they start going after birth control.

The Ginny Thomas Court has destroyed the Supreme Court for the foreseeable future. This entity has destroyed every ounce of credibility it ever had, and now is telling the world that it has chosen to be a purely fascist partisan group on par with the NRA and FoxNews.

So where do we go from here....

Well now the voters need to step up and only vote for candidates who will reform the courts. Which is why the right to vote is so important for Republicans to attack. If the vote isn't enough to protect against fascism, then we'll likely be headed officially towards a fully fascist state on par with Russia, and the US' standing in the world will crumble. Unbridled fascism and no middle class NEVER leads to prosperity for a country.

This is NOT a single ruling. It's a watershed moment for the country, and it's the complete destruction of the Supreme Court as a non-partisan entity of Democracy. Can it be rebuilt?? Can Democracy exist without a Supreme Court or worse with an adversarial Supreme Court???... we'll see.

    Don't be naive.

The people are not going to see abortion as state issue, it will very much still be a national political issue and the position of the President and even congress on reproductive freedoms will be considered.

The American people have less trust in the SCOTUS than they have had in generations.

This is a huge victory for those that are pro-life, but it isn't over with.

Unfortunately, most of America is too lazy to vote and the GOP does all it can to add hurdles to encourage people to just sit home and complain on twitter all day.

I actually don't agree with that given 2018 and 2020. Americans are fully capable of getting out to vote. The issues though are due to information and disinformation. Examples:

-States like Texas confusing voters on when to vote, where to vote, whats on the ballot, confusing language on bills, etc. etc.
-Disinformation from right wing propaganda (see poling on Joe Biden and inflation, gas prices, etc.)

People showed up when Trump was on the ballot and overwhelmingly said that guy sucks, and we shouldn't have THAT. But will the same Americans have the same information that builds up their thinking on balancing their experience in 2021-23 vs a more broad Trump fascist movement??... I really don't know and don't necessarily trust that many Americans to vote in their self interest due to just so much of a barrage of simply bad information.
