It lets his agent attempt to manipulate where he goes or doesn't go in the draft. For example, if Orlando is considering taking him, they likely will not while OKC will knowing the agent is at play.
I still have Chet #1 on my personal board. The upside is tremendous and defensively he is special. The injury concerns are not as high for me because the game is so vastly different than it was in the past.
Here is a live look of Paolo Banchero after hearing the Kings are trying to trade into the top 3 of this draft.
Last night Woj said Chet's camp has been told OKC is taking him. Why would they flip flop at the last minute?
given the teams in play... Orl, OKC and Hou... i cant really see a need/desire to manipulate his landing spot - other than the higher the better dolllarwise... once you start snubbing teams, if you happen to drop - you might free fall... I mean if there was a good team who's sitting as a possibility at #2 or #3 (who maybe is there by virtue of getting someone elses pick) then i could see such considerations on his part... at least that would be my take...
Folks are still making meaningless noise as if Chet is going to fall to #3. Just stop it. A lot of yall either are super late to news or so gullible that you'll believe anything
BR also says that Woj reports the exact opposite in the very link u provided… While Wasserman has reported this, other NBA insiders like ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the opposite and that Holmgren provided his medicals only to the Magic and Thunder. lol at believing this dude over Woj…just stop this
BR is barely plausible... Woj on the othe hand... and he is suggesting the top 3 are pretty much locked and loaded
He isn't going to drop (or at least his agent doesn't think so). He only worked out and met two teams (Orlando and OKC). He didn't even meet or workout with the Rockets when invited. That tells me that he doesn't see himself falling past third in this draft under any circumstances. Shortly after the draft order was decided there were reports that Holmgren wanted to end up in OKC. At this point it is very possible that he would rather go to OKC than Orlando or Houston and his agent is attempting to make sure that Orlando doesn't surprise everyone and take Holmgren first. OKC is not a big market and they are not winning a lot of games, but more draft players want to go there than you would expect. It is because of Sam Presti's track record and the huge amount of assets that OKC has and the fact there are no defined roles in OKC yet. I would be surprised if it isn't Smith/Holmgren/Banchero in that order.
I don't think high lottery picks want their team to have another high lottery pick to replace them so soon...
Guys at the top of the lottery are not concerned about it. They view the assets as a way to build strong teams around them, which lead to success and more attention. Also, in the case of OKC there is no Cade Cunningham yet, there is no clear cut #1.
I get the ego aspect but there's always a voice in the back of your head... Davion Mitchell worrying about Ivey now?
