I'm really surprised in Altuve and Yordan leading at their positions. Altuve because he was so universally hated by casual fans because of the stupid media, and Yordan because he is going up against Ohtani. Maybe this is a good sign that most fans are finally ready to move beyond the 2017 cheating thing?
Wow, so seems like they won't option Meyers. I'm genuinely surprised and excited by that. Siri is in the starting lineup tonight with a ground ball pitcher on the mound - one last hurrah for him before he gets demoted, or a sign that he's the guy to stay up when Meyers is transferred back to the 40 man and activated?
I can't imagine Siri staying up over Chas. One of the 2 of them must go and Chas is much more suited as a 4th OF and better rounded with higher floor. I could definitely see Siri returning and active on the post season roster where his speed and defense could make him a weapon.
Eventually that decision has to be made. However, they could just send Matijevic down for now and delay the Siri/Chas decision until Pena is ready to come off the IL.
That is a great point. I'm sure that depends on Diaz. If he is still hurting they need a backup 1B. Also with a 13 man bench, having 6 guys who can only play OF is a big disadvantage. Not an issue extremely short-term but an issue on a 7 day road trip.
Hadn't Myers looked pretty bad until his 4x4 night yesterday? Was that enough to bring him up instead of optioning him back to Sugar Land. Or this could just be a delay until they send him back down since the 20 days are up. I think they did this with Bregman where he came back just to spend a few days with the team before going back down for more rehab.
I heard on the broadcast last night that the last 5 times that Yuli has lead off an inning with a double he has not scored. That's inexcusable The bottom of this lineup is anemic Hopefully Pena and Jake can lengthen it a bit but something must happen or this team will be an early and easy out ( pun intended) in the playoffs
