All series talk goes in here. Non series talk goes somewhere else. No PBP, that can be found from other sources if you need it. All games are broadcast on AT&T Sports SW unless otherwise noted. 6-23 Framber Valdez (L) vs. Jameson Taillon (R) 6:05 MLBN (out-of-market only) 6-24 Justin Verlander (R) vs. Luis Severino (R) 6:05 6-25 Cristian Javier (R) vs. Gerrit Cole (R) 12:05 MLBN (out-of-market only) 6-26 Jose Urquidy (R) vs. Nestor Cortes (L) 12:35 MLBN (out-of-market only)
All these games are must-see TV... and yet Apple TV didn't want to try and secure the Friday night game for its marquee schedule? (They're showing Cubs-Cardinals, Tigers-D'backs...) While I don't think baseball is in as bad shape as other national pundits or casual fans think... they do need to find a way to get the bigger games, bigger matchups, bigger in-season clashes visible to larger audiences.
I'm shocked that Sunday game isn't on ESPN. The 2 best teams in the AL, 2 big markets, the 2 best hitters in the league, and significant recent history between them. This series checks every box you could want.
Especially considering neither team has a getaway day. Astros off on Monday (and they are staying in NY to play the Mets) and the Yankees have a home game.
Sunday night baseball has long been an also-ran of sorts. Rarely the two best teams. Same shitty ESPN production. Usually other better viewing options occurring concurrently, and most baseball fans actually enjoy attending day weekend games. There is definitely an opportunity to showcase the sport that they're just not doing on a national level right now. Friday night would be ideal... definitely not much competition on other networks, every team is in action, all prime-time games, etc.
Wow look at that Yankee payroll. Its the highest 26 man payroll in MLB yet again. 65 million more than the Astros. The Yankess should be in the WS every year with that huge advantage. Its both infuriating and humorous to watch.
So we all know the Yankees payroll is crazy. But do you guys think judge deserves the money he has asked for based on his performance? From a baseball fans perspective
ESPN is quite aware that Judge will not be viewed as a Top 2 hitter on Sunday after facing Valdez and Verlander.
So... was Blum's comment "that one kind of gave me a buzz, TK", a pointed remark (to all the conspiracy theorists out there) or just a coincidence?
