That’s kind of why I respect it. The easy thing is to do nothing. No one would judge you. But if you believe in your ability to judge talent and you think there is a wide gap…making sure you get the guy you’re convinced is better makes sense. The consensus seems to be there isn’t that big of talent gap. So why risk it. But the one thing Stone seems to be good at is amateur talent evaluation. Green, Sengun and Christopher all seem to be proof of that.
Exactly. I’m confused how that **** is even a factor and why people care about something so random. Complete degenerate nonsense. The Rockets literally have NO reason to do anything but stay put. Don’t like Holmgren? TAKE IVEY. (trade KPJ and 26) Ivey goes in the top 2? Take Smith or Banchero. Worst case scenario is Holmgren. A 7’2, fluid athlete that can dribble, rebound, block shots and shoot 3’s! Oh my….how terrible. haha..smh. Rockets would be complete goofballs to do anything other than stay put.
This is a draft where literally any one of the Top 4 players could justifiably go number 1 and no one would be surprised by it. The gap doesn’t begin until pick 5 or 6. Giving away assets when you literally don’t have to is not that bright for any team, IN PARTICULAR one that is rebuilding. There’s no need to turn “1+2” into “E=MC^2”
There a top 3, not a top 4. It's Jabari, Chet, and Paolo.... then a sizeable gap between the next tier.
Rockets cant run out a team of 15 first round picks. Eventually they will need to consolidate all those assets and go quality over quantity. If they have identified Banchero as the best player on their board regardless of peripheral opinion then go for it. If they give up a pick from this draft and future considerations to get their guy is that really hurting the rebuild? Stone seems to have an eye for talent I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
No need to bid against yourself when there are other equally solid options. Ivey is Money Banchero, Money Smith, Money Holmgren, Money. More than likely their guy will fall to them, BUT if by chance something happens and a curveball is thrown, Banchero is nice, but he’s NOT generational talent and any one of the other 3 is a solid contingency plan. Rockets have 1st world problems…
Top 4 is a copium delusion made up by Kings fans. Ivey is only considered because guard crop this year suck
It's also microball fans. They are only interested in small quick players and they don't take skill into account at all.
Bingo. When you have a proven and legitimate source like Woj it significantly trumps any type of Vegas odds that is based on how bets are being placed. In this case when both are taken into account Woj is the much better reflection of what's going to happen And just like that, Woj tweets and the odds dramatically shift
Right that is the fan perspective based on what reputable scouts and analysts think/feel about these prospects and we tend to be impressionable, blanket statements like "This player is not generational" is premature and could apply to any of these guys. What if Stone doesnt see it that way? What if Stone ranks these guys differently and has his own risk assessment and is going to determine his movement on his own circle of advisers and instinct. Be that good or bad is open to debate and if this pick busts then Stone's job could hang in the balance. So far the guy seems to know what he's doing in the personnel department.
And there you have it. Woj is far more plugged in than anyone. I’ll take his word over Vegas betting lines any day. If he says Paolo is going 3, then Paolo 3. Put your minds at ease boys.
I'm enjoying reading other fans forum for more insight. One thing I noticed is they don't beef with each other like we do. We some toxic mfs.
Yup. I hate it People care way too much about being right and letting everyone know they're right than just talking basketball.
Rockets need a solid SF more than anything. The player that’s the best fit for the Rockets would be Jabari Smith. If they trade up, why would they not take Smith? Dude would be a perfect fit for Green and Sengun. I would be 100% cool with them trading up for Smith. Banchero is a good player, no doubt….. If he’s there at 3, fantastic…take him. Holmgren has a SF skill set, even tho he has C height. Picking ANY of those 3 dudes is a W. Overthinking is typically the reason why bad teams stay bad. You start gambling for that “x-factor, final piece” once you have a playoff team. When it comes to a rebuild, you take what you can get and build from that.
